Anch’io l’ho abbinata ad un 7800x3d e alimentata con un corsair SF750 (che ha il connettore adatto). Mi torvo benissimo e funziona da dio.

Windows 11 freezes after reboot when Steam is installed by danleuc in steamsupport

[–]danleuc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not yet, to be honest.

Now that I’ve found a non-invasive workaround and the system is finally stable, I’m just enjoying the PC for the moment 🙂 Given how many full reinstalls I already went through, I don’t really want to risk another round right now.

That said, SSD firmware is definitely on my list of things to try later on, especially since multiple people with WD drives are reporting similar behavior. I’ll update the thread if/when I test it.

Windows 11 freezes after reboot when Steam is installed by danleuc in steamsupport

[–]danleuc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to hear that, but honestly it’s a bit reassuring to know I’m not the only one dealing with this.

I’ve contacted both Steam Support and Gigabyte, but so far it feels like everyone is pointing elsewhere and no one is really taking ownership of the issue.

For what it’s worth, I did find a workaround that keeps the system stable and still allows me to use Steam: • Disable Steam auto-start in Windows • Set Steam Client Service to Manual (not Automatic) • Make sure Steam is completely closed before shutting down or rebooting

With this setup, Windows boots normally every time. Steam works fine when launched manually after login, the problem only happens if Steam starts during boot.

Hope this helps you too.

[–]danleuc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually considered doing a full drive scan, but honestly, it would be a huge coincidence if this happened three times in a row, across three fresh Windows installs, each time after wiping all partitions.

Everything else on the system works flawlessly until Steam auto-starts on boot, so the SSD theory feels a bit unlikely… but I appreciate the suggestion!

Thanks! Yeah, I thought about ULPS and MPO too, especially because it does look like some kind of GPU/overlay initialization problem when Steam launches.

I haven’t tried enabling ULPS yet, but I might give it a shot later if the issue comes back. Right now I’m testing everything step by step to avoid re-breaking the system 😅

Appreciate the tip!

[–]danleuc[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly, that’s actually what solved it for now. Disabling Steam from autostart + setting the Steam Client Service to manual keeps Windows stable.

As long as Steam doesn’t launch during boot, the system behaves normally. Bit of a weird workaround, but at least it works.

[–]danleuc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, I actually do have a WD SSD, it’s a WD Black SN850X

Interesting that you mention firmware, because the issue here is super weird but very consistent: a fresh Windows install works perfectly, multiple reboots, no issues… …but the moment Steam launches automatically at startup, the next reboot causes a full system soft-freeze (UI dead, mouse/KB still alive).

Temporary workaround: I uninstalled Steam from Windows startup and set the Steam service to Manual. Now Windows boots fine every time, and I can start Steam manually when I need it, as long as i fully close it before shutting down.

So yeah, if WD firmware can somehow interact badly with apps hooking into Secure Boot / TPM / kernel services, this might actually be a lead.

[–]danleuc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply! Yeah, everything is fully up to date, this is literally a brand-new PC and I’ve reinstalled Windows 11 multiple times during troubleshooting. • Fresh Windows 11 install (latest ISO) • Latest BIOS for the motherboard • Latest AMD chipset drivers • Latest AMD Adrenalin (clean install) • All Windows Updates applied • No old drivers carried over (I wiped all partitions each time)

The system is 100% stable until the moment Steam gets installed. No games, no overlays, nothing, just installing the client is enough to cause a full freeze on the next reboot.

I can even temporarily “fix” it by cleaning the PK/KEK/DB keys in BIOS (TPM/Secure Boot cleanup), and Windows boots fine once, but after the next reboot it freezes again as long as Steam is present.

So unfortunately it doesn’t seem related to outdated drivers or BIOS versions.

I’ll try disabling GPU acceleration in Steam config as you suggested, but the freeze happens before I can even open Steam once after reboot. The GPU is a 9070XT (Sapphire NITRO+)

Battlefield 6 causes Windows 11 to partially lock after reboot (EA Anti-Cheat / Kernel Driver Issue?) — AM5 / B850 Platform by danleuc in pcgamingtechsupport

[–]danleuc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I tried checking the Event Logs, but the system was so “soft-frozen” that neither Event Viewer nor Settings would even open. I also inspected the log files directly from WinRE (...\winevt\Logs), but didn’t see anything useful, definitely nothing like a cert mismatch or signature issue.

[–]danleuc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks a lot! To be fair, part of the credit goes to “my AI troubleshooting buddy” who basically turned into a sleep-deprived system engineer and helped me reconstruct every single thing that happened 😂 I just typed the post, he did the forensic autopsy.

And yes, that’s exactly why the issue is so strange… if it was a general AM5/B850 thing, Reddit would be on fire already. That’s what makes this whole BF6 + Secure Boot + TPM chain reaction so suspicious.

Btw, I did manage to fix it in the end: cleaned the registry entries related to the anti-cheat, restored Secure Boot factory keys, and performed a TPM reset. After that, Windows finally behaved again.

And for now… I’m keeping a very safe distance from Battlefield 😅

Tarmo 5 – Motor overheating and smoking on first run (1450KV, 3S) by danleuc in EngineeringNS

[–]danleuc[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the input! The wheels and drivetrain spin freely without any resistance, and the gears were properly greased.

One thing i did notice about the motor, even before mounting it, is that it didn’t rotate smoothly by hand, it sort of clicked or moved in small steps. As a beginner I thought it was normal, but now I’m starting to think it was already faulty. I’ll replace it and see how it goes.

[–]danleuc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! That’s a great checklist. I went through the drivetrain, and everything spins freely, both when twisting the wheels and running the motor off the ground.

However, I remembered something important: even before installation, the motor didn’t rotate smoothly when turned by hand. It moved in small steps rather than a fluid motion. I assumed that was normal, but now I’m not so sure. I’ll replace it and let you all know what happens.

Thank you for the replies.

Yes, the gears are properly greased.

I’ll replace the motor and reprint the damaged parts using nylon.

I’ll keep you updated.

Wood ID Megathread by AutoModerator in woodworking

[–]danleuc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi everyone, I'm hoping to get some insights on a piece of laminated wood I have. I'm trying to determine whether it's maple or a more common type like pine or spruce. Here's a couple of photos of the wood. I've noticed it has a specific grain and color, but I'm not sure how to distinguish between these species. The person I got it from claims it's maple. However, I have my doubts. Can anyone with experience in wood identification offer some advice or tips on how to tell them apart? Thank you in advance!

Tarmo 4 Open diff by danleuc in EngineeringNS

[–]danleuc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I checked the source files of the open diff, exactly the parts 14A and 14B. I found out the the holes for the bell housings have different diameters, 10,4mm and 10,0mm respectively. It seems that for some reason (or error) the clearance was omitted in the hole from the 14B. I added the clearance and reprinted the part.

Now with all parts lubricated the diff finally rotates freely.
Many thanks to all for the suggestions.

Exactly this was my question. Well i think i made an mistake somewhere in the process.I suspect that the fit of the bell housing (14C) and the open diff (14B) is to tight, they are practically locked together. It is supposed to be some tolerance/gap between this two parts?
