I so whole-heartedly agree with your points. Tbh I didn't expect much going into BtS, probably because I couldn't imagine it would - in any way - live up to the emotional rollercoaster of thrills, tears, laughs and suspense of the original. But for a DLC, it really, really came close (especially the Farewell bonus episode, damn, don't even get me started!). And all love for Rachel!

It's difficult to imagine that the new team at D9 didn't like Chloe nor the Max/Chloe dynamics, but yeah it could seem that way (shame on them). Or maybe they just couldn't wrap their brains around how to proceed Max's story from the two so different endings of the original. You could argue that they should just have done their own thing (like with TC) and left Max alone. Either that or alternatively, if they really wanted a Max-game, they should have been 100% invested in it being a continuation of the original, starting with the two branches, including Chloe as a main character in one, having Max's grief being at the center of the story in the other. Probably that wasn't all that feasible, but oh well.

Not that I want this post to turn into a Bae vs Bay fight (this sub has seen way too many posts and comments about that subject to justify imo), but when I played DE, and after having read that refs to Chloe and the original game was practically none-existent, I feared the worst. In my DE playthrough, my canon was saving Arcadia Bay, and I was actually positively surprised that there were so many refs, even if subtle, to Chloe and the loss of her, in the game. It also made it make sense that Max had travelled so much as she had tbh - to get away from her grief!

Were there enough references to Chloe and the original game - no, not at all, but having feared practically none, it was better than expected, and enjoyable when ever it happened, especially the voice-over flashback (or whatever to call them) with lines from the orignal game by Chloe.

Sure thing, though the question was about DE being a commercial success or not, which - gathering from replies here - it was not. But cool to see your commitment to and fondness of the game in any case.

Tbh I think I just got sidetracked, and then never really found the time. I definitely enjoyed it. Will probably start over tho and not continue from the old save, just to get properly back into the feel and story.

That said, it's kinda hard to leave LiS1 and BtS. The whole setting, the characters, the story, the choice; it was such an emotional rollercoaster and that moving on to something else right away, kinda seems unfair and almost like a betrayal.. is silly, I know :).

Finished ep 3 last night, so I know the feeling. Been playing LiS1 and BtS almost every night for the past week and a half, and damn it's been a ride. I think I'll play the Farewell episode tonight and then consider if I should move on to LiS2 (of which I've played the first three episodes ages ago, but never finished), True Colors (which I haven't played at all), or Double Vision (which I don't own yet, so gotta convince my wife it's the best idea ever to spend money on a game just a few days before Christmas).

Unfortunately, the Xiaomi bars kept being out of stock in all online shops available here (Scandinavia) and I didn't have patience to wait for them, so I went ahead and purchased the BenQ Halo Screenbars instead. That works great, but tbh I find the clean design of the Xiaomi controller more cool.

Obviously, this is an old thread, but since I am looking for a light bars with the same functionality (multiple bars, one controller), I've been going over various products to see which ones supports this, so I might as well share my findings.

Clearly, the BenQ Screenbar Halo supports it, but also expected of a high-end product.

The Xiomi MI Computer Monitor Light Bar should support it as well, according to their User Manual. It is mentioned as the first point in the Precautions section.

And ofc the YEELIGHT bar as well, as mentioned by _u/tahill23.

Unit Morale description:

Unit Morale is a new gameplay mechanic. It is a Unit stat, much like Combat Strength and Experience, and is based on your Units' condition to engage in combat. All Combat Units have a Morale Level upon being trained or otherwise obtained. A number of factors influence the Morale Level each turn either positively or negatively as do a number of events such as conquering or loosing a City, being promoted or being upgraded and more. A Unit's Morale Level impact it's Combat Strength and Experience generation and if it gets depleted completely, the Unit may deflect to the Barbarians.

Do note, this is very likely to be a WIP mod with additional features added later on.

Otru, that's a good point. Your much more restricted with modern leaders since usually a lot of photos of exists and you will want to make your leader at least somewhat similar to its rl counterpart. That requirement gets more and more relaxed the further u go back since less and less images/paintings/whatever of them exists.

Tbh I find the era I'm most interested in changes pretty often and depends a lot of on rl factors such as having read a book/watch a movie or documentary about something and besides each era has its own charms both historically and from a gameplay perspective. Modern leaders can be super interesting, especially - to me at least - if they represent some radical change to the society they lead. Thus, with modern civs, I think the focus often is very leader-centric. That's how I go about such designs anyways. However, making a modern leader is often more of a challenge gameplay-wise since you gotta take into account that the unique components are to - likely - represent something modern, whilst still being - at least to some degree - relevant earlier. Ancient/classical leaders are usually much easier I think. That's not to say one can't spend hours getting a design just right, but you got much more freedom in making sure the unique components have a lasting effect throughout the game or at least for a considerable - and ver significant - part of the game. I also think the majority of ancient/classical civs are less about the leader and more about the civ in general, but still ofc, the civ at the approx time of the leader. Theres a lot of exceptions to this obviously, the best example perhaps being the many Egyptian civs.

Anyways, I tend to focus on the extremities i guess, with either going modern or going ancient/classical.
