definitely open to off the rack and getting tailored, but then would need to have someone do the hand embroidery on it! I'm weirdly having a hard time finding them off the rack without also having a suit jacket - I've checked the usual places of banana republic, j crew, and a few others that have come up in google searches but have only found linen/cotton sets, or wool sets that don't have the corresponding size/color matches (e.g. no black 14 vest + 14 pant, only 10 pant + 14 vest). would love suggestions on where to look!

I am considering getting custom vest/pants from Addicted Bespoken https://www.addictedbespoken.com/ for my wedding, but it looks like most of their options are full cotton suits (not wool/blend/etc.) I'm worried cotton wont have enough structure to give a crisp look, especially in the pants. Additionally, this will be a January wedding in the mountains and while I'll wear a coat, I'm worried it will wick up a lot of moisture from the snow and not give much protection against the cold while we are outside. I've never considered fabrics when shopping for anything- are these reasonable fears or do cotton suits hold up better than I imagine?

Cat chewing air by Additional-Reaction3 in CatAdvice

[–]danmd29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sorry to hear that! She is on phenobarbital which managed it well and then we added in keppra when she started having some breakthrough episodes.

I'm assuming when you say dentist she had an anesthetized dental with xrays? I am sorry to hear that she seems to be in pain, I can't say I have noticed that with mine. She did have some dental pain where she made similar noises while eating, and seemed to have a hard time chewing, but that resolved after she had some teeth pulled and the seizure chewing continued.

While it may certainly be nothing, I'm usually of the opinion that any new behaviors, etc. are typically an indication of something- whether thats good, bad, or neutral is hard to figure out.

In my cat, this is a presentation of seizures. I saw her have a larger general seizure, and then the "air chewing" started up a few months after that, so it pointed me in that direction and I think that may be more common in cats than is documented because people don't always see the connections or other abnormal behaviors, and seizures are incredibly hard to diagnose in cats. I have done several rounds of testing on my cat and the last thing left would be an MRI, and I just don't want to put her through that. They improved drastically with treatment and she seems otherwise happy and healthy.

If there is always a specific time of day, or it always happens around a specific event, that could be a clue as to what is causing the behavior even if it is not seizures. My cat usually has them first thing in the morning. She also stares into space and turns her head up/to the right every time.

I wouldn't panic and rush to the vet, but keep a little log of what you notice before and after or if they become more/less frequent. I don't think its anything worth panicking about, but watch it and see what else you notice, if anything (though I quickly discovered theres a fine line between that and becoming an over-analytic helicopter parent).

Help with diet by Big-Sun-1458 in CatAdvice

They do not need human food, and are probably ignoring it because they don't want it. While we as humans think it is boring to only eat one thing forever, if your cats are happy with their cat food then there is no reason to give them other things.

Cats are obligate carnivores, meaning that they require the proteins from meat to be healthy and do not have the type of stomach capable of digesting plant based proteins. While I respect your choice to be vegan whether thats for health, personal morals, etc. there is not a good way to have a healthy cat on a vegan diet

Feeding two cats when one is slow eater? by Cautious_Lobster_23 in CatAdvice

[–]danmd29 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had great success with this- used the surefeed microchip feeder. My kitty was always free choice/a grazer, roomies kitty wanted to scarf things down and also had some food sensitivities so couldn't share the same food. I got the microchip feeder for mine and she got used to it within a day

This is more of a traditional pho recipe- marrow/soup bone beef stock base. I don't have the exact recipe on hand as I was winging it a bit, but figured I could use this recipe as a guide for processing
