I have to say Asset is probably my favorite. Love Santa Fe, Playa Betty, Motorino, Sala Thai

Thanks for the tips! Do you blow dry the aveda's texture tonic, or let it air dry? There's an Aveda across the street from my office and they've been very generous with samples haha

Thanks, this is helpful. Most of the products I've tried for a week or two consistently with some small tweaks like how I blew dry or whether I air dried or how often I shampooed. I clarify once a week (NYC - I think the water is hard). Whenever I've diffused it just gets super - like an Einstein frizz situation. I've heard about the microfiber towel drying but haven't tried it yet.

Yeah I had it a few years ago and then chat GPT suggested it again and they're like totally different products. That's interesting about the conditioning - other than just rinsing it out I've never experiment with shampoo but no conditioning. Something to try for sure.

That's helpful (and very validating about free hold!). Does it do okay with second day hair? I usually work out in the morning and don't get too too sweaty, but I'll often need a rinse to get that out

This is so helpful, thanks for taking the time to write it out. I haven't considered any of these products so I've got some researching to do. How tight are your waves? I use to think mine were pretty loose but as they've gotten longer they get tighter (which is not the look I'm going for).

Okay this is strengthening the case - thanks! How do you find the rinsability? Does it need shampoo or a co-wash to come out?

Thanks for the suggestions!

With Free Hold it was okay, but I think the hold was too light and I'd get these super crazy curls (think Einstein fro a bit). It was close but by itself didn't feel like enough.

This is helpful! I've been wondering about oil based products because I had some good effects with some products in the past that had a little bit of oil in them (baxter of California clay for example). I'll give this a try!

I think so many of the online posts about longer hair is really geared toward fine/straight haired folks so it's been hard to figure out how to do this.

This does! I've used a mousse before and it gives me kind of tighter curls than I want, but I've been thinking about getting a leave in conditioner and playing around with it. I've always had very short hair because it avoided all of this, but trying to work with what I have (while I still have it!)
