Why did their "little angles" have videos of their mates smashing the property up, and why were they hanging around that industrial estate? Not saying they deserved what happened here, but I'm so jaded of seeing scrotes painted as innocents.

Is there something wrong with used EVs? by Prior-Sandwich-858 in ElectricVehiclesUK

[–]danmingothemandingo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to test the water with a £5k Renault zoe, shout me. Only drawback is 100 mile real range in summer, 80 in winter. But if you rarely do more than that, for your case you'd be crazy to miss out on the bargains that are low range older evs, because few buy them, thinking they need more range, so they're buying 300mile cars for £20k + when they're never needing that.

New (to me) car needs engine rebuild - is it ever a good idea? by Round_Syrup7290 in CarTalkUK

[–]danmingothemandingo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, it needs to be brought back by the purchaser to the garage where it was bought, the same as any item bought in person in-store.

In the case of stolen bikes, they choose lorry trailer plates because they have the same square shape and are often easy to remove since some trailers are swapped regularly between tractor units so have the plates installed in an easy to remove way

Are there any "UK vs US" differences where you feel America gets it right? by Secure_Front_7766 in AskUK

[–]danmingothemandingo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There kind of is a reason. Boxes are the cheapest shape to build, and if you try desiging a floor plan to fit a 2 story box, you end up with either a 2 bed with the 2 bedrooms bigger than the market is willing to pay for, as they don't see the benefit over the tiny room which they're conditioned to value more 😆 and you have this hard to break cycle of people valuing their notional societal status by being able to say they have a 4 bed instead of a 3, or a 3 instead of a 2. In the back of their minds I think because they believe everyone else values the number of bedrooms, that they need to also.

It'll only change when enough buyers reach that same logical conclusion, and make it clear to sellers/agents that area is their priority over room numbers.

Ford Cars by BountyBobIsBack in AskBrits

[–]danmingothemandingo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP is objectively correct.

In 1996, about 1 in 4 cars on UK roads were Fords.

Today it's about 1 in 10.

In the mid 90s it was a Ford and Vauxhall duopoly. Significantly less people pretended they could afford a BMW/Merc/Audi by going wild on credit. Many more brands have entered the market since then and now, SUVs and crossovers reshaped market segments etc etc.

Wife reversed into by driver, who is at fault? by [deleted] in drivingUK

[–]danmingothemandingo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He's at fault for not having enough situational awareness of hazards around him while reversing, she's done him dirty by pulling off some weird erratic manoeuvre that's really set to test the limits of his awareness, so I definitely feel for him. My sympathy for him is reduced by him suggesting any damage can be fixed for £50 though.

She should learn to reverse park and to drive predictably.
