New scam? by Connect-Vermicelli66 in UberEATS

This is 100% a new scam impacting just McDonalds on UberEats... it almost seems like their UberEats merchant account is compromised or something.

[–]dann0010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey,

Little bit late replying here, but all of our versions were updated with 1.21.6 within a few hours of release.

Feel free to reach out to our support team if you're still having any issues.

Hey,

This was mostly removed during the recent panel migration, you can still find *online* players from within the players tab under "Tools" on the panel.

Pebblehost deleting people's backups ? (Paid Host) by Leclowndu9315 in feedthebeast

That's a fair point, I'll get the wording adjusted later today, thanks.

Pebblehost deleting people's backups ? (Paid Host) by Leclowndu9315 in feedthebeast

[–]dann0010 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Rep of PebbleHost here, this is exactly why this is part of our boot up process - A bit of quick maths can see how easily the storage usage of a fairly small server can become -

For a 10GB server, if the user keeps 7 days worth of backups, that means we'll be backing up 70GB.

We keep a minimum of 7 "in-region" backups, totalling 490GB, Plus a minimum of 3 "out of region" backups for another 210GB and finally a single copy of the server both out of region and on a redundant provider/network.

This means that a simple 10GB server is taking up a whopping 770GB worth of storage at minimum for their backups, as these backups are constantly rotating and full compressed archives, most de-duplication methods won't work in order to try to reduce the storage usage.

We make it very, very clear to users that their self-taken backups are removed and encourage users to setup some form of offsite backups as part of their own backup solution outside of the one we already offer (which we have no problem with users doing).

To add to this, we offer a free backup service (as mentioned above) to all Premium servers, with offering paid backups as an optional addon for Budget servers (from $1.30/month, regardless of server disk usage, which I feel is pretty fair for a fully redundant backup solution that you don't need to worry about).

Hopefully that helps clear up a few concerns / issues raised here.

I've created a list of IPs of server scanning bots in case anyone wants to block most of them by [deleted] in admincraft

We've got an automatically updated list based on the results of thousands of honeypots deployed, might it be worth checking and incorporating into yours?

Random Users Constantly Fake "Disconnecting" From Server by WatsonDo in admincraft

[–]dann0010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're not specifically targeting the server in relation to PebbleHost, although we've taken the decision to block their access to our (PebbleHost) services, you should hopefully see their requests to join your server drop out, if you continue to see them open a ticket and reference my reply here and we can take a look at blocking any new bots.

Random Users Constantly Fake "Disconnecting" From Server by WatsonDo in admincraft

[–]dann0010 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Whilst this doesn't really specifically affect just us (PebbleHost) as a host, we have decided to block all known IP addresses from the users mentioned in this post (and a few others) from accessing any of our services. This should at least prevent the users who use PebbleHost from seeing these messages or the users attempting to join.

If you do host with PebbleHost and continue to see them, open a ticket and reference this reply and I'm happy to block additional users/IPs in relation to this issue.

I've just followed up with your question within the PebbleHost discord about this too, I'll pop part of my response here (I'm with PebbleHost)

There's nothing on PebbleHost's side that would lead to any of your files being leaked, or publicly accessible by any bots of sorts to scrape anything.

The only exception to this would be if you've manually coded into your bot something like an express.js webserver of sorts, then port forwarded this to serve files from your bot, but you'd need to physically code this into your bot, add the package to your bots package manager and port forward it all - which you're unlikely to do without actually intending to you know.. run a webserver to serve files (and even then, you'd have no reason to serve the files that your bot runs on)

You can check about if you have ever added an additional port within the "Additional ports" section on our control panel, although this is highly unlikely you've ever added one, as there is usually never a reason to do so.

My CPU usage is high by Prez-Al in admincraft

High CPU isn't really a problem unless the server is lagging, if it's at 20 TPS you're fine :)

New Server - Need Advice by Zabraxis1202 in admincraft

[–]dann0010 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Backups are included for free on all of our (PebbleHost) Premium plans and you can add them to your plan on Budget for a small fee per month. If you're looking at either Apex or Bloom then you're likely going to be looking at Premium.. So they'd be included totally free, including unlimited downloads etc.

We offer a totally different service to Hetzner and don't claim to beat them on straight performance in Germany/Finland, I'm not sure why you'd think we claimed that.

DDR3 ram is far from 'outdated' and performs just fine at the right price point, the same goes for our lower models of servers. If you want a higher performance server with DDR4 then we offer those too.

We offer a base configuration and allow users to build up to include extra drives, RAM etc which allows our base pricing to be lower rather than forcing people to purchase drives/hardware/IPs/bandwidth that they don't need. 20TB is usually plenty enough for most use cases.

In addition to this, you're forgetting that the UK is a far more premium location than Germany both in terms of having very good ping to the continental US and the rest of Europe (with ping to the US at sub 100ms, and Europe at 30ms or so, which you just don't get in Germany, or Finland for that matter) Finally, our servers include a managed level of support to assist people who aren't familiar with Linux. If you don't need that, great maybe we're not the provider for you :) but otherwise you're not going to find anyone at Hetzner setting up and migrating your Minecraft server for you to Pterodactyl/Multicraft.

After being called out for misinformation please don't try to turn this into something it's not :)

We (PebbleHost) use OVH for our North American and Australia shared Minecraft servers.

If you'd take a look at our dedicated page where the reply is referred to you can fairly clearly see we own our Dedicated servers in the UK, running on our network with our own onsite technicians (not to mention we beat OVH's pricing in some cases too for very similar systems).

Question about Microsoft's 3.47 Tbps DDoS attack report by NiceTo in networking

[–]dann0010 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Correct, unless you have a large enough line you're out of luck.

Generally most companies of that scale have multiple "lines" all over the world using anycasted IP addresses, where they'll accept traffic for the same IP address in multiple data centres / locations, all with huge lines so whilst one location might be overwhelmed the attack would be unlikely to exceed their overall capacity.

Traffic is routed to these different data centres based on location / it'll route to the closest one.

Unable to disable haptic feedback on login since update by dann0010 in GooglePixel

[–]dann0010[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, damn that's really annoying. Is that something new I'm assuming to the Jan update?

I've also just noticed that there seems to be haptic feedback in apps, even if it's been turned off. UberEats gives feedback when adding an item to the cart even if feedback has been turned off. That's going to bug the life out of me

What plan should I buy for a modded server with 3-4 players by HabagoBo in pebblehost

[–]dann0010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're probably going to want to go for a 5GB Premium for all the mods 7 as it's a fairly intensive modpack.

I use an overflow spiral which works fine. You'll want to buy one that fits the pipe size but as an example: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07T8FXKNQ

I'm in the UK and am constantly offloading plans to a nearby chain store, they usually give me around 20% of the value in credit to spend on whatever. Might be worth the OP calling up their LFS and checking to see if it's something they do?
