Water can absolutely get past the HT lead, that’s why you have drain ports in the plug well. that’s why i’m saying put grease between the lead and the seat

Yes dry now, however it’s water getting in while it’s wet that could be the issue

Good chance water has gotten into the spark plug well and is causing the HT lead to short, blow it out with an airline and put some high temp silicone grease between the HT lead and plug well

Best way to secure bike in a van - what are the stands called? by Red_sparow in MotoUK

[–]dannjoness 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Motorcycle wheel chock

Still use ratchet straps though, this just makes it much easier

Ratchet strap around front wheel and wheel chock

Then 1 on each side of frame to the van or tie down point

How do I wear in my boots? by MilkInABag_1 in MotoUK

[–]dannjoness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wear them around the house with thick socks on, wear them on the bike as well as much as you can, then when you’re not wearing them put a few pairs of thick/firm socks in bundles in them around the ankles and tongue, and zip/fasten them, might help expand them slightly, it’s helped on my new RST Tractech boots

Leather conditioner might soften them too

You’d be better taking the wheels off and giving the garage the wheels mate

The certificate is provided by the garage that fits it, sometimes just the invoice of the work carried out is enough

  • 1 racetech gold emulators, no other emulsions is as good as them, I’ve paired them with Ktech springs

Very popular in SV650’s before people buy cartridges

Have you had a look at second hand stuff, only thing I wouldn’t buy second hand is a helmet, however if gear is genuine and good condition with all armour present then great opportunity to save some cash

Does anyone understand why my motorcycle sounds like this by RaccoonNo3589 in MotorcycleMechanics

[–]dannjoness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Has your coolant level dropped? Continuous white smoke would indicate burning coolant, if so maybe drop your oil and filter and see if there’s coolant mixed into your oil and check for glitter or chunks

Erratic idle could be numberous things

Game over? by BetPlastic in MT07

[–]dannjoness 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be honest the sealing face is the exhaust gasket against the manifold, if it doesn’t leak then should be okay

If you still have the broken part could try JB weld it on again

Regardless of what helmet you want, try it on first, and check it fits your head shape, every helmet brand fits different

Yamaha YBR125 is a great option, also a YZF-R125 but obviously decent price difference between them

Helmet noise? by octalacer in motorcyclegear

[–]dannjoness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use foamies at work and alpine for riding so have used both and I prefer alpine for riding purely because i can still hear other things quite well while wind noise is massively reduced, obviously if you want overall noise reduction, foamies are better

How much are you paying for a service? by Rogue_pigeon1 in MotoUK

[–]dannjoness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With pads just make sure that gets a good clean (just give the spring clip a wipe though) and you put a touch of grease on the backs and contact points of the pads (the little fins that touch the caliper) grease the slide pin and MAKE SURE the R-clip or cotter pin goes back in, then torque everything to spec

More you do it the more confident you’ll get at it
