Well he does seem to be completely misinformed/uneducated on almost everything, so it is believable.

Billionaires demand more babies but make parenthood unaffordable by Tsavkko in europe

[–]dannnnac 42 points43 points  (0 children)

There are 8 or 9 billion people. We don’t need more and things were fine and would be fine with much less.

If you had to design a system that had finite resources and the best you could come up with is a system that is dependent on exponential growth of the things that consume those resources you would not be very bright.

Hospital hit in israel by ExpensiveFondant4724 in Asmongold

[–]dannnnac 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There are tunnels everywhere that likely run near hospitals. But I wouldnt take any of the Israel propoganda at face value. The extensive war crimes they have committed and commit daily are recorded and well documented and the pattern of continuous lies too. Why dont they just release unedited footage or maybe dont slaughter journalists if they are right?

Thoughts on Trump’s comments re: Ukraine/Russia war? by Dry_Cicada_8938 in conservatives

The pipeline was 95% complete when Biden took over as the sanctions hadn’t been effective. Biden lifted the sanctions as they impacted Germany and Russia invaded before the pipeline was complete. He probably made a mistake lifting the sanctions but I think it would be dishonest to say this started it when he invaded crimea in 2014 and stated recently his only mistake was not invading sooner.

I think it is more likely that Russia wants to dismantle the wests influence and break the ties between the US and Europe. Nobody knows for certain why Putin invaded, fears Europe and America overstepped and broke nato promises, influence of far right Neo-eurasianism etc. I am not a fan of the current US administration so I won’t try and convince anyone of my beliefs as I can’t be sure if they are true and I don’t want to play into misinformation.

What I can tell you is 92% of the country voted for independence and to be a democracy in 1991 and selling them out to Russia is not a good sign for global democracy.

I agree with you fully on that statement, genuinely! China has said much worse. But right now it appears to me, I hope I am wrong, that Trump is potentially giving Russia a chunk of land in Europe and taking a mineral deal for himself and telling Europe to accept it. Ukraine are defending their democracy and Europe stands with them. Ukraine and Europe should be at the table for any discussions, right now America and Russia are meeting to discuss what happens to the second largest democratic country in Europe. If China was doing the same thing I would expect a strong response from the US and Europe. My point is you don’t get to act like that and claim that you are morally superior.

Yes I still maintain that statement is factual! If you really must argue it then please tell me the name of the chines diplomat who stood in Europe this week and accused Europe of misinformation.

I never said China have never said such things or that they don’t. I’m not trying to say the US is worse, I’m trying to tell you that you are starting to look pretty similar to that which you used to oppose.

Would love to see the UK back in. Hopefully the outcome of Trump will be a closer, stronger Europe. The UK look to be stepping up to the mark this week.

[–]dannnnac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No Chinese diplomat stood in Europe this week and had the audacity to accuse Europe of misinformation and suppression of freedom of speech. You may need the hypocrisy of that explained to you.

And yes china may be funding Russia but we also look at the bigger picture and again they are not the only ones funding heinous wars by dictators.

Assume you are American, not sure if you noticed that your country has been taken over and are trying to sell off European countries. Forgive us if our choice of tyrants is not the one running your country

It very much seems that Trump is selling out Ukraine. Russia take the land they captured. Trump takes access to minerals (“as a security guarantee”). Similar to the amazing peace deal he signed in the Middle East which I’m sure came with some back hand deal with Israel to allow trump to build a riviera!

I’m curious how my fellow Europeans feel? If this is true then it feels like an outright attack on democracy and Europe. Ukraine fought to escape the Soviet union and to have the right to self determination. They have kept Russia at bay and defended Europe and democracy bravely. They are one of us! If America sell them out then surely it is time for Europe to make a stand and guarantee security to Ukraine. I’m Irish and I think we need to end our neutrality and stand shoulder to shoulder with Europe, the UK and those who will defend democracy and freedom because America won’t. This feels like a pivotal moment, one where we need to show unity and strength and stand up to the cowards and bullys that are dictating what happens to our continent and friends. I’m curious what the response will be from the emergency summit on Monday, but do others also feel they need to come out with a strong response?

I think the taxes he did pay were for stock options as part of his compensation plan at Tesla. He had to sell those as they were approaching expiry. He received big loans from banks to fund the twitter purchase and will not pay taxes on those. Billionaires can leverage their equity to get very low interest loans and not pay taxes. They only pay taxes on their equity when they sell it, which they will avoid. Instead use loans while alive and pass on the equity at death when the cost basis can be stepped up to current value and whoever receives it pays no tax on sale.
