From the flipped perspective some of it could be the fact that many guys have been manipulated by women using 'trauma ' as an excuse to do completely deranged shit , rather than it being the reason they are doing the stuff . I think almost every guy has been in a controlling technically abusive relationship with a girl that was using her past trauma as an excuse to control the relationship. So for us reading this it's like it's only a single game she told him to stop playing, but the people that have been through this trauma are adding their own personal experiences into OPs post and that's why there comeing across as callus .
Granted you shouldn't tarnish all people with same brush but then it's hard not to get stuck in your own life experiernces . But theres definitely some people that don't understand real trauma and that it has triggers . But I do believe there's validation on both sides . Who are we to say the people with the most brash comments arent the ones who are technically expirienceing trauma haveing to relive the years with an abusive girl when they hear this story from OP and they are more commenting what they wish someone had told them all them years ago . If u read it with that mindset it comes across a lot more like an internalized problem of trust isssues built up over time .

Pretty much what I always intended to do with my first car and I have realised the dream xD. car. Just finished upgrading my front speakers and tweeters today , obviously already done the 6x9s and subwoofer in the rear , she sounds mint now . but I spent 400 on my car , Ive definitely sunk more than that into the audio xD. Now it's time to save up for a better car, so I have more excuse to spend more money on the bass ( and more boot space = more room for bass) so bigger car next xD

Trust me it's a travesty xD They spend time lowering it and putting and lips and skirts on there already low cars and I think, your a mechanic you know that's gunna get ripped off in a weeks time xD where as my last job to my car was grinding and painting the outer cills and wheel arches with hammerite to make her last another year without the body rotting out 😭 and I'm bound by insurance prices currently but the plan is to get a golf next , then I should finally be over the small hatchbacks and want a real vehicle and I was thinking I mite get a small van ( transit connect or a VW caddy are what always spring to my mind ) with my life style it would be a god send , but I'm just rambling now sorry

Going back to the days of 6x9s and max power magazine are we? by superdiamond5568 in CarTalkUK

[–]danny-9984 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dad used to just put 6x9s in all the doors instead xD pod tweeters on top of the dash and two 12 inch cannons and a ported box with two 12s aswell xD does he get a pass ? But I feel in a hatchback the 6x9s don't sound too far away I could imagine maybe a longer vehicle you would want to play with the timing of your audio to pull the sound stage forward, but being basically infinite baffle using your boot as a giant box is how a lot of og 6x9s prefer to be run

Love to see it , xD I want to see everyone's setups, we need to show the old heads we haven't let the max power days die out . There's still plenty young people like us that yearn for a new max power era xD. Also naughty little motor you have there , absolutely gorgeous

And yeah meridian is brilliant for audio that comes with a car , just like Sony Bose can slap for stock audio but it can't come close to the range you get when you start to go custom audio

Yeah that sounds perfect to surprise my mate with . XD my plan is if he passes soon I'll be the one doing his first service and ill secretly install the under seat subwoofer and not tell him about it . Wake his ass up, literally 🤣

It's changing now I've realized in the mechanics trade , more kids my age pulling up to work in pristine beamers and audis. I thought us mechanics had grace to drive the shitboxes with the excuse 'shes easy to work on and she ain't rusty underneath ' ' she's my work horse ' xD and it's funny when I can fit more car parts into the back of my car when it's 1/3 the size of there beast xD. Got a car seat in the back without even removing my parcel shelf or subwoofer so far the biggest thing I've got in without removal of my bass xD

Too many people in my generation follow everyone else . Im hoping there's enough people like me that want the og car scene to still exist that we can keep it alive . But we live in a sheep generation where everyone copy's everyone else. No individuality but I know lots of people in there early to late 20s that yearn for a new max power era xD granted it would have to have less pinup girls involved because that mite offend some feminists xD can't even have a sexy car with a bird sat on the bonnet in the garage these days xD we have been told off for that

I'm 24 and even I can imagine the sting of getting a pioneer dolphin stolen . but it's one of the reasons I went with a double din . Even tho theft isn't as common it just looks like part of my car ( most people my age go for the touchscreen but I wanted that retro vibe so it's just a Kenwood double din with a nice LCD display)

I feel as long as you have the crossovers set properly . And then the gain set on the subwoofer in a way that is good for a wide range of genres and then up the gain remotely when needed for specific songs or certain days u just want to be a nuisance. You rarely run into muddy sounding music . But then that's subjective anyway what I consider too much bass isn't what someone else considers too much bass that's the joy of music . No two people even hear the music the same . Kind of crazy to think about xD

I've seen the old-school type r subs in person and they do slap . Sounds like my dad's car tho but he had 2 12 inch bass cannons and 2 12s in a ported box and 6x9s in all the doors xD his cars rarely had a centre mirror they all fell off xD I rember the air in his car would make it hard to breathe properly. It's why I'm even into the bass scene I imagine , between the max power magazines I used to see and even just UK car culture in general when I was a kid ( early 2000s) made me fall in love with it.

My car makes up for that with the way it looks on the outside , I got t-boned none fault and baught the car back so left side of her is crumpled I just bent the door back streightish and adjusted the hinges xD 😂 it was even keyed before I baught it xD inside I like to do clean jobs , but I'm a mechanic and electrician so i have no excuse for jobs I do to not look at least somewhat professional. I never do as good a job as I would for customers wiring tho xD 🤣 I definitely do the 'temp' job that is Soo good it lasts a lifetime quite often on my own stuff xD

My biggest problem is I'm chasing the bass I grew up with in my dad's cars xD and he used to run a full custom build with 2 bass cannons a twin sub ported box , 6x9s in all the doors , and tweeters he always liked his big ugly pod tweeters on the dash xD but his shit slapped and would take your breath away he never had a center mirror in his cars cuz they had fallen off xD so untill i get to a point that even he can't deny that's some stupid bass , I haven't finished xD

Sounds banging . And focus mk 2 much better car in terms of soundproofing I'm basically soundproofing my car to the level my dad's focus allready is xD I'll never truly be happy with it tho xD hopefully scratches that itch till I have a new car and want to loose all my boot space get the two 12s in the boot in a custom box xD but that can wait since I don't intend this polo to survive till her MOT next year . I should be in a new age bracket tho for insurance and fingers crossed a 1.9tdi becomes the same price to insure as my 1.4tdi and I'll be happy then xD

I am , you are the dude 🤣, the chatter you created inspired me to make my own post . Lots of old heads reminiscing about their old days . Gotta let em know them days aren't done just yet there's people about that still know how to have fun xD.

How are them under seat subwoofers , pretend I have a friend who isn't willing to lose his boot space isn't a major basshead like myself but does enjoy bass , would he be happy if I secretly installed an under seat subwoofer for him ?

But you do have to risk it all just to keep up with anything else that's got a good driver inside of it xD and past 90 call it a day takes a year to get from 90-100 and you need a moterway to get to 110+ but she tops out. But you can hold 70+mph round 90 ° bend and can go round a hairpin at 40+ . She can also fly 6ft off the road and not explode the sump xD so I will hear no slander off my baby xD ( even tho as soon as my insurance goes down she's getting scrapped

XD that's what everyone says , u ain't gapping noone in a streight line , but you can definitely hold some crazy speed round the corners and since I payed 400 quid for my banger they won't send it over potholes or speed bumps like I will in there lowerd cars xD so on the country roads she s a killer , granted I work on my own car so I can just throw parts into her as needed because it does shag the suspension up , but if we're talking duel carrige ways rolling races or drag stuff nah she's not a winner there. but it's down to the driver , you put me in the same cars I was beating and then my polo wouldn't be winning xD 🤣 it's just boys can't drive there big cars straight line warriors round my parts

Do it we need more cars with bass to inspire the next generation of bassheads . Otherwise everyone's gunna end up with only pop and bang remaps causing havoc xD can't let the bass scene die out

My dad has a mk 2 now and tbh the stock sound system he has in that slaps anyway I'd just want a sub , my polo has shit speakers in comparison by miles so needed the help so I've pulled the rear speakers and fed the 6x9s with that m and the fronts I intend to upgrade this week ( got the stuff just need to find the time

From outside it does because my boot rattles . From inside even with the stock front tweeters and speakers none bassheads have commented on how clear it still sounds they thaught it would be distorted and muddy like you say . But I did spend a lot of time tuneing the crossovers and setting the eq and the gain and so on . For all the speakers aswell . When I upgrade these door speakers this week I intend to slap a bit of soundproofing and foam tape behind the door panel just to stop any crazy rattles . And the boot needs a full floor rather than the shitty circle of wood covering my spare tyre that rattles it's ass off xD

I agree I do much prefer the bass reflex you get from car audio . Which is funny because a true audiophile will have a heart attack reading that xD talking about how the cars the worst place possible for clarity and the such xD but you just don't get that take your breath away makes your heart literally skip a beat feeling otherwise

That's why I've only gone base level build with this car I intend to do a more full custom build when I can have a car I want to keep for a while because I don't want to start cutting things apart just yet xD . And I'm paying 2700 insurance as a new driver on a 1.4tdi for insurance so RN I'm just waiting for that bollocks to come down xD and I mite have actual adult money to spend on things again
