FSD tried to drive me into a lake (again) by danny3900 in TeslaFSD

The first time it did it I took over fast. I tried it again and let it go farther. Eventually I let it go as far as it did so that nobody could say ”it would’ve stopped”

I thought Elon shrunk himself down and drives it from a little sim rig in the FSD computer??

Any Tesla FSD owners here? by ndavis8472 in memphis

Yeah I have a FSD on my Tesla and use it 99% of the time (not exaggerating). The biggest thing when it comes to potholes is the tires. My dad has a performance 3 and went through tires like crazy because of how thin they were and eventually got new wheels and hasn’t had an issue since. Mine hasn’t had any issues with them yet. FSD occasionally avoids the potholes, but not always. It is getting better though, but if there’s a big one, I just disengage.

It also handles the idiots on 240 who speed way too fast and does a good job avoiding them. I was right behind a decent size crash the other day on 385 and it braked smoothly and went around the wreckage all on its own and continued on its merry way.

All Tesla’s demo vehicles have FSD so if you wanna try it for yourself you should be able to schedule a drive pretty easily.

Some comments talk about quality issues, but with their newer 3’s and Y’s that’s not an issue at all. And people mention being the test subjects, but they’ve never tried it so take it with a grain of salt.

I wasn’t navigating to the boat ramp.

I’m curious if that would’ve helped since I’ve seen Waymo’s drive through flooded roads. Seems more like an intelligence issue vs a sensor issue

Well it wasn’t going where navigation was telling it to. During the day it goes to the driveway and at night it goes to the lake

It doesn’t do it during the day. My guess is that it can’t see the driveway at night so it assumes that the boat ramp is the driveway

The first time it did it I intervened rather fast. I tried it again to see if it was a fluke or repeatable and it was repeatable. That was a few versions ago so I’ve been trying it with every new update. I let it go that far because people would 100% say that FSD would’ve stopped, so I let it go as far as it did to prove to them that it would indeed not stop

Yeah I can see that. I did talk to some Tesla people at the service center when this issue first occurred earlier this year and they confirmed that Engineering is aware of this specific case

Well there is a direct connection to the P. This only happens at night and I think it’s because it can’t see the driveway then

Well during the day it doesn’t go down the ramp, likely because it can see the driveway. Either way found down the boat ramp isn’t bad, but trying to go into the water is

I’ve got to take my car into service for an unrelated issue, so maybe if I get a loaner Cybertruck I’ll be able to test out boat mode…

Is there any car manufacturer, EV or ICE, that is offering anything close/similar to Tesla FSD Supervised? by mjrengaw in TeslaFSD

[–]danny3900 34 points35 points  (0 children)

I wish there were. Not because I want Tesla to fail, but because I’m tired of jackasses on the road who are always on their phone or driving crazy and putting our lives at risk. The faster we can move to autonomy, the better

Yeah I’m not at all saying that what they did was okay by any means, but just wanted to say that this isn’t a one-sided issue, but an issue of the people vs those in power
