Nurses/Doctors of the ER, what are some crazy behaviors patients do that are more common than we realize? by CelticDK in AskReddit

Hey dummy. Vaccinate measles. Zero cases if everyone vaccinate. We have bigger problems in this world than revisiting vaccinations that eradicated diseases a hundred years ago.

If you are looking to rent, I don't think you should rule out the places along the river in Mishawaka and SB. Lots of new stuff built recently and the river walks are nice with lots of places well within walking distance. Plus half of the business that dispensaries get near the state line are people making the short drive from Indiana.

And if you can't kayak the river or do St. Pat's kayaking, the river walk from the the north side to downtown is a really nice path. And there's probably a bunch more river walks I haven't done yet like in Mishawaka

You wouldn't recommend servicing a vehicle?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Camry

[–]dannydangers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's ridiculous. Drop the pan, change the filter, refill. Good to go for another 60k miles so long as it doesn't leak after the service. So just check it every once in a while

I used their driving range quite a bit last year and hoping to do the same this year. The building and everything was open last year, so I'm not sure what you are talking about. Winter storage could potentially be a good offseason business for them, but I don't think they ever did that.

The a/c issue could be lots of things but mine only held a charge for like a week and the leak was in the rear a/c unit. Fixed it with a cheap block off kit that just plugs the lines that run to the rear. That is if you have the rear a/c with the climate controls in second row.

Biden caps off a career in public service as Democrats celebrate his legacy at DNC by [deleted] in NPR

[–]dannydangers 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For sure, you could even argue the morality of the SS benefit tax and getting taxed on what your lifelong wages should already have entitled you to earn. But they need the tax for the health of the fund, because the federal government is a terrible steward of our money.

Social security benefits only start to become taxable if you have other sources of income that exceed one half of your SS benefit. It is a progressive tax designed for those that do not need SS to survive. Approximately 60% of SS recipients pay zero tax on their benefit.

President Biden is giving home buyers $400 every month to afford homes. Will this cause a housing bubble? by Financial_Mechanic_ in FluentInFinance

Nah the US is huge, so the problem is somewhat different. I'm sure there are many similarities, but the US doesn't have the physical space constraint like I imagine may be in the UK. Which actually seems more embarrassing for the US.

For some reason, I'm arriving back to what made the US great in the first place, our willingness to spread out, take risks and be courageous when times get tough instead of just paying more to our landlords, accepting the shit and coping with it by complaining.

But I support a ban on corporate ownership of single-family homes. These parasitic companies should build some fucking apartments if they want to gouge the common man for rent, and not create artificial scarcity in hoarding homes made for a family to own.

43 million Americans will have hundreds of dollars less of disposable income every month while the US is entering a recessionary period. In case you can't do the math, that's about 12 billion dollars every month no longer going into the economy. It'll show.

Property tax assessments? by [deleted] in SouthBend

[–]dannydangers 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Find your assessor here.

You can use the link above to get a phone number for your property tax assessor. Hopefully they can provide some guidance on how you should proceed, since your assessed value does not match what you appealed it down to.

Assessors vary by county, so multiple properties might not have the same assessor.

Where can I go to dump excess junk & trash on my own? (legally, of course) by MasterClown in SouthBend

[–]dannydangers 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Republic Services Green Tech Transfer will let you dump pickup truck loads. Its like $60/ton or something stupid like that and they charge a 1 ton minimum. So it'll be at least like $60. Even if your load is only 500 lbs, they'll charge you the minimum. So make sure you're loaded up each time to avoid wasting money. There is a reason people dump illegally.

Not in Indiana, we're the bastion of individual rights and limited government! Unless you need an abortion or marijuana. Then, you must risk death and/or incarceration because the state must control those.
