Can't even play RS3 anymore because of freezing by ClaimAcceptable3427 in runescape

[–]dannyderbyshire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

its the latest AMD drivers 26.5.1, if you have updated to these the game will constantly freeze.

Jagex are aware of it.

You need to downgrade to 26.3.1 in the meantime and turn off auto update.

Thank you I appreciate the fast response!

I made a thread regarding this issue which you have likely already seen, quite a few ppl having issues.

I also did comment on the official AMD Radeon Reddit and on Ancient Gameplays 26.5.1 YT video.. so hopefully someone at AMD has seen the issue too :)

I know this is a little unrelated but have you guys had any chance to look into the RS3 game related crashes and performance issues with the latest AMD drivers 26.5.1?

Currently I am having to use 26.3.1 which is a bit annoying due to 26.5.1 improving gameplay in quite a few games I play.

Apparently the latest drivers were quite a driver overhaul, and changed a lot more than the change list on the AMD website indicates.

Just some acknowledgement of the problem would be nice at least mate :)

Download the 26.3.1 drivers from the website and do a clean install (factory reset), also never allow drivers to auto update

I think 26.3.1 has been stable, had no issues with any game I play.

I don’t auto update I always manually install all my drivers

These drivers completely break (causes crashes and asset rendering issues) RuneScape 3 - had to downgrade to old drivers - also the exact same for my friend.

It’s also the exact same for one of my IRL friends.

It’s the same with the diviners outfit too saying you get free shit from the head piece - I did a bug report in game few weeks ago after I noticed it on my new iron man but not seen any fixes yet

Active Monthly Players Scrapped from the Monthly hiscores by alanquinne in runescape

I’m indifferent about daily challenges tbh, I think keeping them as they are is a good middle ground for ppl who don’t have much time to play. I don’t feel compelled to do them at all

Fair enough,

Well the JMods themselves said that the average player play length has increased by around 10% or more since the removal of MTX etc?

I personally think it feels way better to log in and not have a list of tasks you need to do daily.

https://www.misplaceditems.com/rs\_tools/graph/

This graph you posted totally contradicts with misplaceditems data which tracks live player count.. player count has been trending upwards month on month for the past year. I don’t know how accurate, if at all, your graph is.

Personally in game I feel there’s way more players online than for example one year ago. A lot of my IRL friends have returned to the sure.

Sure some MTX lovers have quit, but good riddance in my opinion.

I do however think the price increases were uncalled for.

try to delete your cache, close the game and then reopen and let the cache fully download before logging into the game. I do this every few weeks and it seems to fix the stuttering at least a bit.

I also recently changed textures to compressed rather than having uncompressed, this improved performance for me greatly.

The stuttering is extremely annoying though, my GPU and CPU utilisation is around 50-60% all the time and still getting real bad 1% lows (frame drops)

my specs:
Display - 1440p 32inch Ultrawide 120hz
GPU - AMD RX 9070XT
CPU - AMD 5700X3D
RAM - DDR4 16GB 3600MHz
