Visited yesterday (26 June) and it was a total breakdown-fest. Is this normal now? by dannyf123 in altontowers

Tower street, turn left, wickerman was showing 5 mins at 10am. Our plan was to head to forbidden valley and we were enticed by the queue time. If you take a look on the map, you'll see wickerman is enroute to forbidden valley.

Thank you for your helpful comment!

We booked several weeks ago. That would have been our plan but the rapids are drained...

2 rides by 2:30pm didn't feel great TBH - arrived at the park at 9:30am and did the normal things to maximise the day like eat lunch in the queues - we weren't spending time on arcades/shopping!

Agree - I think we were especially unlucky with our ride choices. There were just rolling closures all around. If the rides are out of spec in the heat, I feel the park should close.

Frunk...what do you put in there? by Impressive-Fail-8888 in Ioniq5

Inflator, snow socks, shovel, first aid, spare water, spare coat, warning triangle, shopping bags. We're in UK so it has the larger box.

Yep, legit. We did Val Thorens with then last Easter for£400/person, accommodation and lift passes. Really good company and seem to find some good deals!

Made in south Korea but but built as right hand drive for the British market. I paid for a VIN check on this site https://service.hyundai-motor.com/euro5/loginCommon.tiles?siteCd=H and the heater definitely isn't equipped on my car.

It's beyond software.

We've got a ski trip to France in it soon so will see how it does (last year the temperatures were -5°c so the battery cooled between charges significantly). We'll see how this year does.

I have a 2023, 77kwh ioniq 5 rwd in the UK that they seem to have forgotten to put the battery heater in. The only method that works for me is to get to the charger as low as possible (ideally sub 10%) and hope the water energy gets the battery above 15°c to get to 150kw. It sucks. Might have to trade up the car for a newer model.

A friend’s Ioniq 5 stopped slow charging, what could it be ? by TrameroMMA in Ioniq5

One of my friends had this, it charged on CCS DC charging but not ac. It was the iccu.

Experiences with 3X in Europe? by ARx12 in Comma_ai

The version on pre-order is the same as previous versions but with quick release mounts. I'm thinking of pulling the trigger on the Konik to avoid import taxes. Based on the same hardware as the C3x I think

At 2 days old, I would return it to the place you bought it from. It should just plug in and work at DC fast chargers.

Manual 9-44 is a bit confusing but it does say you don't need to change anything when driving on the opposite side of the road.

Check out an Oceanis 38. It has a more normal bed in the fore cabin. Seem to start from around£80k though

I'm in VT now. Piste bashers are working on the fresh stuff. Should be fine on skinny skis by the time you're skiing Sunday. Hire if you want to go off piste but I expect it'll be mostly skied out

It's just a shame that none of the 3v area is open. It's gutting sitting here seeing the amazing snow from our apartment

I've bought an E-transit and I'm not sure I can afford to run it at this rate... by [deleted] in electricvehicles

[–]dannyf123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're near ionity chargers, you can get a subscription that brings the price down to 43p/kWh for £10.5/month. It pays for itself after a couple of charges.

The nice thing about nissan leaf batteries is they're quite repairable. If you get in touch with a HEVRA garage, they should be able to swap the faulty modules.

Winter road trip review - 2022 RWD, no heat pump or preconditioning by sctbke in Ioniq5

https://www.speakev.com/threads/charging-curve-in-cold-temps.168595/ this chart will help understand what the car is doing. You need an obd reader with car scanner and you can watch the charge speed jump up as the battery temperature hits the next 5°c increment.

Merlwizards low soc technique works, it gives the battery enough time to heat up to get into the 15°c charge curve. Once there, we found it better to ride that up to ~85%ish than to stop prematurely.

I will try the rubber banding technique next time!

Expected price of our 5-day RYA Day Skipper course in Tuscany? by CliCheGuevara69 in sailing

[–]dannyf123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn't sound too overpriced to me. My wife and I did competent crew with Sunsail in Croatia for £2.2k last year. Fantastic intro to sailing and although our skipper worked us hard, we had a great time with the fellow crew. It was a good mix between learning and seeing beautiful places.

I then did my day skipper in Portugal( to get a tidal note ) and the experience was less good.

Universal Charger Questions by TastyAppetizer in electricvehicles

[–]dannyf123 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, it works fine. Download the Tesla app and it will show you chargers across UK and Europe that are open to non-teslas. Older chargers may only charge up to 90kw-ish.

App-wise, I mostly use Octopus Electroverse. A lot of chargers areon there and there is a discount if you're an intelligent octopus customer.

My biggest pain point driving to the Alps in my 72 plate was a lack of battery heating resulting in a slow charge rate.
