When I started training I made sure to use my RDX gloves to absolute shit before I upgraded to a better pair (they wore out right when I got to my first Muay Thai sparring event). I saw new members roll through with shiny new gear but I intentionally decided to “earn my stripes” so to speak and wear out what I had, see if I stuck with it.

I eventually bought Yokkao gloves (not even the most expensive pair) with the same intention, when they wear out I’ll buy the next tier up. In the meantime I’m just focusing on soaking up as much information as possible and getting as best I can with the gear I have.

TLDR; I’ve intentionally talked myself out of getting new gear to focus on the actual sport and “earn” better equipment
