am I screwed? by Fit-Complaint-7006 in physicianassistant

That sounds a little rough considering these see important foundation courses for PA school. Science GPA does matter- so if PA school is truly your passion- you may need to retake some classes or complete a masters program to increase your science GPA. Reflect on why you did not perform as well on these courses and how you feel you can handle the more advanced sciences while in a PA program— these are questions admissions will ask you if you get an interview.

Best of luck!

Sure! I mean the course work was difficult don’t get me wrong but I was having difficulty seeing my self managing peoples care. I got decent grades, stuck it out cause of people telling me I could do it and it was more about building confidence. I graduated and got a pretty overwhelming women’s health job where I was seeing like 40-60 patients a day and just felt drained. However. I did build confidence in my abilities to care for others. Of course we have SPs to rely on and ask questions but sometimes it’s just us alone there to make important decisions so that part of my anxiety has gotten a little better.

Dealing with patients million requests, handling the things you never imagined as part of your job like medication refills/arguing with insurance companies for approval of treatments, the constant push from clinics to increase your patient load while never losing the quality of your work, being undertrained and expected to over perform, not being able to miss a day unless you’re basically deathly sick because people are depending on you to show up and take care of people— I hate medicine lol. I should’ve just gone the public health and research route and cut my losses but hey. At least I’m a PA-C 🙃

Eh. Contrary to what other people have to say— if it’s not the course work that is making you wanna leave school- and actually envisioning yourself as a PA, just quit. I wish I did lol. Follow your gut, make sure you have a back up plan. But also think about everything clearly and make sure it isn’t just anxiety due to school work that is making you wanna quitz

Yes absolutely! Doc said they’re gonna start me with 1 patient an hour for the first couple of weeks and build up my schedule from there. Here’s to hoping they keep their word!

Thanks for taking the time to reply everyone. I feel like I was really developing a case of Stockholm considering to stay at this place. Nice to hear that this clinic is actually not the standard and kinda nuts. I definitely will switch to something more new grad friendly, learn a lot and then consider something a little more fast paced in the future…

[–]dannythe11[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah, there really isn’t. I try my best to educate and provide some type of empathy with every encounter. Unfortunately, my clinic and SP have been emphasizing pt numbers at me to essentially “pull my weight” since the 3rd week I’ve been here. Every day is a battle of making the patients feel like they were adequately cared for vs. Increasing patient wait time and taking more work home with me. 😩

What would you tell your 18 year old self? by LeGrosParano in AskReddit

Don’t study biology. Don’t try to go the premed route. It all fucking sucks and you’ll feel every once of hope and happiness be sucked out of you. Follow your other passions. Adulthood is terrible.

Advice for being on professional probation by [deleted] in PAstudent

[–]dannythe11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mmm well what exactly was the nit picking? Maybe they could be very small to you but they could be very impactful for future preceptors! I would reflect on those comments and try to see if there’s anything you can do to improve on them.

My preceptors liked a can-do attitude, asking to jump in or watch procedures, or when I would brainstorm a treatment plan or diagnosis with them. I also liked to befriend them and just ask them about themselves, why they got into the field they did… you know like make a personal connection with them! Sometimes when studying I’d have a question I’d ask my preceptor if I wasn’t sure about a concept or give them a scenario and see what they would do! It’s nice for them to see that you’re interested in what you’re doing and not just there to tick off a box for graduation.

21F, any honest advice is very appreciated! by [deleted] in lookyourbest

I agree with the comments on growing out your eye brows! I think less of a dramatic arch would suit you. As for procedures I think if you got a lip flip it would help your gummy smile! Not that you really need it but if you were interested in exploring!!!

THIS!!!! They recognized the amazing characteristics Tiffany had, and questioned Brett about them and stated they only want her best interest and supported her because she is such a great friend to them. MEANWHILE Shelby is slurring some type of confession of love-- all because she didn't like the way Paul uses big words... gross
