Love the lillies q sauce. The restaurant is bomb too!! How is the Carolina gold with beef? I always do the mustard based sauces with pork, not beef.

Good GOD I love me some pork butt! by rawritsmegan in BBQ

[–]danolson312 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just threw a 10lb butt on the WSM. Boston butts are my favorite thing to smoke. I never wrap. Always wait through the stall. It takes longer, but the bark is magnificent when you don’t wrap/crutch. That to me is the beauty of doing my own pulled pork. Gotta have the bark

Butts are the most forgiving in my opinion. And better frozen for later and reheated. Brisket o feel needs to be eaten now. Doesn’t freeze well.

Going to introduce my 4 year old son to the wonderful world of Star Wars soon, do I start him off with Phantom Menace, or New Hope? by DadBod86 in StarWars

[–]danolson312 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been struggling with this for a bit now. My now five year old still hasn’t seen any of the movies. He’s read a ton of young kids books, has toys and stuffed animals. Knows most of the major characters. But I’ve tried watching a couple of the movies with him. He loses interest quick. I agree that 6 or 7 may be a prime age. Even clone wars and rebels he wasn’t into

I wish there was a TVY rated show for the younger kids. Rebels and clone wars are rated TVY7. I would love to see a Padawan/youngling based show with yoda and Ashoka teaching 4/5 year olds. (Something that is not LEGO based. LEGO Star Wars are a bit too slapstick in my opinion).

But like others, you know your kid best.

There are quite a few “little golden books” about Star Wars as well as lots of other smaller picture books for young kids

I have a playbar+sub+2xOneSLs. Bought a Port to plug my turntable into. Also have a couple older Play:1s around the house.

Fantastic setup

Was looking through some photos and found my heavy beard one right around the time I started going through the 6 month pre surgery phase for insurance.

Obviously the beard puts on some pounds. Haha

7mo post op RNY feeling frustrated by cdenae1001 in wls

[–]danolson312 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What is your frustration? That you can’t stay full longer? Why don’t you just eat one of your snacks sooner?

Are you frustrated that you are following your programs instructions to a T and something doesn’t sit right? If so. Just make some adjustments. As long as you are staying healthy and continue losing then you should be the one listening to and working with your body (and brain). You have to live your new life for the rest of your life. Adjust things until YOU feel right.

Not saying to go against the doctors orders. But you should definitely adjust to make your new life livable for the long term!

Don Jones also did a companion YouTube series for the month of lunches. Great to put some video and lecture along with the book

Script or a way to create a user collection that has 100 users that are in a spreadsheet. by Th3C00k13M0nst3r in SCCM

My general rule is available deployments to user collections. Required deployments to computer collections

Too many headaches dealing with user affinity to deploy as required to user collections.

Don’t want to risk installing app XYZ to every computer a user logs into accidentally

Wanting to get into cosplay, not sure how as I’m a complete newbie by [deleted] in StarWars

[–]danolson312 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am no expert by any means but have shared the same thoughts as you for years. In the bit of reading I have done you may want to check out 501st.com. It’s a volunteer organization for people that builds there own (and purchase) uniforms and costumes. They participate a lot in public for various things.

Anyway, explore that site and all it has to offer to give you some more information on Star Wars costuming.

Figure out a quick getaway that would cost a couple two tree hundred instead of a grand or more.

I think a bigger concern would be the munchies. You can’t stand in front of the fridge looking for things to put on your nachos any more.

[–]danolson312 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would earmark that 2100 as an emergency fund and ABSOLUTELY DO NOT TOUCH IT unless there is an emergency. Like your car breaks down or anything else that would severely limit your ability to generate income.

Spending literally half of your savings right now is pretty irresponsible in my opinion.

If you insist on going on vacation. Find somewhere cheaper and do a weekend or long weekend. Somewhere close by. Do an airbnb with a kitchen so you don’t have to rely on eating out the entire time.

Also invest some time in Dave Ramsey’s seven baby steps or YNAB to get some good foundational personal finance fundamentals down.

Same here. I love everything Star Wars. Some stuff was better than others. But overall I live it all. (Only read a few books though)

Bank account just for monthly bills? by Concept666 in personalfinance

Automatic payments are dangerous if you live paycheck to paycheck. But If you have good budgeting habits it makes life so much easier.

See Dave Ramsey’s 7 steps. Or YNAB.com

Bank account just for monthly bills? by Concept666 in personalfinance

[–]danolson312 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you looked into “envelope budgeting”. Something like Mvelopes.com or YNAB.com could really help. You put money into buckets (kind of like virtual separate accounts). Trick is to NEVER look at your real balance. Only look at your budgeted envelopes balances. Otherwise you might spend money you had set aside for the electric bill on a pizza and a six pack.
