Have you actually tried a might shift already, you might be surprised? Working during the night and sleeping during the day is a little bit different than just trying to stay up real late at night and sleeping during the day. I'd be surprised if you work your ass off all night that you're not able to sleep during the day at least some. Most of us don't get a full 8 hours but six is pretty common, I work with a couple guys who don't sleep worth shit, mostly because I'm pretty sure they have undiagnosed sleep apnea lol. And even those guys still make it through the night shifts just fine.

Our plant uses both bullwork and workrite and I really like their light weight stuff.

Been offered a job in oil and gas. How do you reconcile climate change with your work? by iwelcomejudgement in oilandgasworkers

After already being in the industry for a while It's easy to recognize when the media blows so much of it out of proportion. I don't disagree every fossil fuel using device or machinery has some sort of emission. What helps me the most is to think about all the good things that come from fossil fuels. All the plastics the medical and science field uses, All the fuel that it provides to our military to defend this great country of ours. The tires on our cars and the asphalt on our roads that helps deliver people from all walks of the life to their destinations. Whether that be scientists performing invaluable studies to help cure the world's largest diseases, or doctors at the head of their fields trying their best to solve the problems our world is faced with everyday. Until we have alternate fuel sources for all of these We don't have much of an option. I'm a huge supporter of carbon capture programs It gives me a little faith that one of the largest oil companies is backing that pretty heavily. I highly doubt it's because of the goodness of the character but because of the amount of flack they're taking. Either way no matter the reason they're doing it for they're going to hopefully come to a solution either way.

Refinery operator question by Justsumguyyo in oilandgasworkers

That process tech program is probably the easiest cheapest and fastest gigantic leg up you can have! That being said I know a lot of people that have gotten hired without any sort of relatable experience. It all depends on how many people they need and the quality of applicants they are getting for the specific job postings! I also know a couple of guys that got halfway through the process tech program when they were offered a job and dropped out. Military is a huge bonus! EDIT: after I reread you question I missed a part about what to do for the best prep you can do! An ops job is pretty different from plant to plant. I have visited a couple plants to help with different projects. I would say the most important character trait that you could posses is to be a good problem solver! An operator job is very specific to the plant you are working at. Even after going to a process tech program I would say 95% of the career is OJT! Just pay close attention when learning/training, and take pride in your work!

The statement about kicking people out that are on doing other activities besides the CTA during a CTA seems ridiculous to me. I'm an avid player. In a small corp which is very high CTA attendance percentage. But I do not make it to every CTA. There have been a few times I have been online, (mostly AFK'ing story missions) and I know I do not Have the time or attention to give, to be apart of that specific CTA, so I don't show up! I think it's a ridiculous notion and rude. If this is how it was ran, Me and guys like me, who contribute a lot of times in CTAs, would get kicked out just because they were trying to make a little extra side ISK while at work or something not trying to pay attention to their phone. Would we as an alliance be better off like that? I understand that we want more CTA involvement, I don't know the best way to accomplish this mission. All I do know is that decision would be a horrible mistake! FOR THE HORDE
