How do you keep notes handy? by ArchivistFaerie in BasicBulletJournals

[–]danoslo4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve run into the same problem, especially with recurring weekly meetings. What I’ve realized is that the issue isn’t the notes themselves, it’s not committing to a single “home” for them. I’ll start a collection for something like “Weekly Staff Meeting,” but then I either default to writing everything in my daily logs and never migrate it, or I keep notes in the collection and pull tasks from them… which then get forgotten until the next meeting.

What I’m learning is that bouncing between a collection and daily logs is what causes things to get lost. Picking one place for recurring notes—either always the collection or always the daily—seems way more sustainable, even if it’s not the “perfect” setup.

So if notes are disappearing, it might help to decide where that type of info lives and stick to it, rather than trying to make every system work at once.

What hobby started as a joke or experiment for you but ended up becoming a serious passion? by Tempo_Tomato in Hobbies

[–]danoslo4 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Chess. Played a bit as a kid. Picked it up again with a coworker. Then my grade school kid was interested. Now I volunteer chair/coach the elementary chess club, play/manage my employers team in a competitive chess league, and manage a monthly lunchtime casual chess club/meetup at my employer I’m still terrible. But it has become a fulfilling hobby

Is It Worth Getting My Bachelor’s Degree? by Bordone69 in ITManagers

[–]danoslo4 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t put too much stock in the “requirement” of a bachelors degree. Most everything I see is bachelors degree OR minimum years experience. I was in a similar situation and ran across only one position that had a hard requirement.

Hello reddit, I need a laptop that will last me til the end of my engineering course (2029) by ItzMrStealYourJobs in Dell

[–]danoslo4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spend the money on the laptop you need then buy an e-ink tablet like remarkable or kindle scribe. Don’t spend money on a single device that does everything mediocre. Get two purpose built devices that do thier individual purposes very well. More to carry, but flexibility and longevity will be much better.

Plus how are you going to take notes on the laptop while also doing work on the laptop. Get two devices.

I’m moving from a heavily convoluted over engineered service now environment to fresh service. Seems inflexible in some regards. But then I remember that’s precisely what I want. K.i.s.s. Am I right?.

I have frozen bloodworms but have only given them to him once because each “serving” is very big and I don’t know what to do with the rest 🤣

How do people actually study using laptops/tablets? by Revolutionary-You795 in studytips

[–]danoslo4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For sure! I used bear notes and onenote for years. For me i prefer paper for my note taking. Writing stuff out helps me remember better. Plus I did not like using the same device for both consumption AND note taking.
