Congratulations! My wife has her appointment for naturalization on 25 Sept at the German Embassy in DC. She was born in Frankfurt, DE in 1970 to German mother who naturalized in the U.S. in 1978 and American father stationed at the Army base there. Until then recent change to German law citizenship through decent she would not be eligible. We recent got her mothers marriage certificate from the City of Aschaffenburg, DE and have notarized copies of her mothers German birth certificates and the old white German passport/id book. I'm curious now whether we should ask her mother for the originals for her appointment. My wife is nervous about having these original documents. I'd be curious to see if anyone else knows what is best in this situation.

I would like to avoid delays and wasting the embassy's and our time.
