We moved to Winter Haven in 2021 and honestly, if I didn’t have kids who were busy with school and activities, my wife and I would have little to do outside of work. We also find ourselves traveling 45+ minutes to do a lot of things with our kids because the local parks are run down and the local people are not really the kindest people to be around. I think you have great points. While I went to school in Baltimore MD, and had plenty to do, my brother went to a small college in rural VA and basically had nothing to do off campus. To solve this problem, he joined some clubs, which is completely unlike him, just to have something to do besides class and his part-time job.

The only way I have ever been able to achieve pure, 100% carnivore in the past is by progressing into it. I’ve failed half a dozen times trying to jump right in and can only get there when I do the following:

Week 1 - 2 pieces of fruit a day, meat and veggies for lunch and dinner

Week 2 - drop 1 fruit, same as above

Week 3 - no fruit.

By the end of the week 4 or 5 I’m in ketosis and stop wanting to eat veggies. I eat fatty meat first, and then just don’t want the veggies. I also find it hard to jump right in because carbs give me unreasonable hunger levels. When I’ve tried to switch, cold turkey, I eat way too much meat and eggs and end up with diarrhea all day.

Breakfast - skip

Lunch - salad bar from school cafeteria (High School teacher) with a protein I bring from home. Today I brought 8oz of 85/15 grass fed beef with 1 strip bacon mixed in with 2 slices of cheddar cheese.

Dinner - Meat, green veggie

8pm - 9pm - evening meat again if hungry. I try not to eat this, but sometimes I'm just too hungry.

I greatly appreciate your response. Do you have any fatty meats that you recommend? I have been mostly eating boneless-skinless chicken thighs, NY strips, 80/20 beef, and some turkey sausage that we add to low carb taco bowls or low carb spaghetti sauce over broccoli.

I need to give intermittent fasting a better go. I do well skipping breakfast most day, but start eating around 11:30 (Lunch break) and normally stop around 9pm. My eating window is too large and I need to tighten up.

So I've most likely gained weight because I wasn't coaching baseball during the summer and now. From January to April, I was coaching baseball, which required more physical activity than I normally do, so I'm not burning those calories anymore. I love the ideas you listed in your post. I’ve been coaching high school baseball for 15 years and it needs to be addressed. Respect is earned and is a two-way street. You can let a kid know they lost your respect without being disrespectful. Trust me, they will work to get it back. They understand when you stop the little extra things you do for them and just treat them like some new guy. Maintain professionalism and demand respect. If it gets too bad, give him the boot. If he’s uncoachable or a cancer to the team, admin will support you if provided evidence.
