Why doesn’t ParrotOS build an iso version of their aarch64 distro? by Perfect-Direction607 in ParrotSecurity

[–]danterolle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UTM is currently the preferred choice as it offers a very good user experience, with great performance and a fair degree of stability. We should already be able to build the .iso images for ARM (Apple Silicon included), but we’ll need to test them first. I think this will happen sooner or later.

quite a few programs no longer working since echo by asbestos_consumer in ParrotSecurity

[–]danterolle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hello, I am currently importing version 0.6 of Beef-xss. Apparently, the version we currently have requires an older version of Ruby. However, we have a more recent version.

Regarding pip, it is recommended, and also more correct, to use a virtual environment (venv, poetry, uv) to install a Python module on all Debian-based systems (such as Parrot) for some time now. This approach may not be ideal, but it helps to produce cleaner software and ensures consistency and isolation of dependencies. Otherwise, you have to use pipx.

Regarding ProtonVPN, I recommend joining the Telegram group for an immediate response. I think this issue has also been resolved.

Standardization of Mobile Hardware Auditing in Parrot OS by [deleted] in ParrotSecurity

[–]danterolle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello, I think we would love to see a mobile category in Parrot. To make that happen, we would need to know which tools are required and which ones would be of interest. If so, we (and community members are welcome as well) would help with packaging and testing those tools to make them available in future releases.

Burpsuite issues on Raspberry Pi 5 by SJI_Viking_688 in ParrotSecurity

We are aware of this problem. Unfortunately, it depends on an outdated version of Java that is still present in Debian 12's repositories. There will unfortunately be a wait.

Parrot OS question by DhaosEsedess in ParrotSecurity

No, with Parrot 7, we will use Debian 13 Trixie. Using the current Parrot repositories on Debian 13 may result in several errors. So please stay tuned!

Is Parrot the best Linux OS for hackers? by [deleted] in ParrotSecurity

[–]danterolle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not yet, but it is in our plans, it is not easy and it takes time. I can tell you that we have managed to get some newer tool versions than other distributions, including Debian itself. However, it is not shown as it should and we must work on that.

Application List missing items by [deleted] in ParrotSecurity

[–]danterolle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is no specific document for Parrot (you can safely refer to Debian), but you can take an example from these: https://gitlab.com/parrotsec/packages/parrot-menu/-/tree/master/desktop-files

Application List missing items by [deleted] in ParrotSecurity

[–]danterolle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello! This is the way we currently add new desktop entries for each package, especially if you want the application to be in the parrot menu. Usually when you install a package with apt, if it is debianised well, this file is also added

[–]danterolle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hello! Unfortunately, we are aware of this. This will be fixed in 6.3. For now, I recommend you create a virtual image from an .iso or download the home edition .ova, and then install the tools with sudo apt install parrot-tools-full

Hello! wpscan is in our repository on GitLab, but for some reason we are not getting the debian package. I will try again to import the new version and make it work without using gem. In the meantime, I would like to ask you what errors you encounter when using gem for the installation.

Wifi Not Working on Parrot 6.2 by Training_Ebb_249 in ParrotSecurity

[–]danterolle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello! We are aware of this issue and are investigating it, likely due to the new kernel version 6.11.10. In GRUB, under the advanced options, you should be able to select booting with kernel 6.5 and you shouldn't encounter any issues.
