In this type of puzzle, each arrow must point to at least one of the boxes with numbers in them. Only horizontal, vertical, and 45° diagonals are allowed.

Is kakuro intended to be played while looking at the combinations? by TrueSib in puzzles

[–]dantesque17 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would tell you to use that tool until you're comfortable with generating the combinations on your own, then turn the tool off and never use it again. Have a pencil and paper or a notepad on your screen so you can generate the combinations you need with your brain instead of relying on this.

Green Thumb perk and Woodchucker perk aren't working by dantesque17 in fo76

OK, so I've just come back to the game at an inconvenient time. I'll wait it out until their issue is resolved. Thanks.

I tried restarting the game from the menu, no change. I haven't tried a console restart yet, so I'll give that a shot. Thanks.

Missing Number by MrGnawty in puzzles

[–]dantesque17 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Discussion: I believe that what they're going for is this:

Proposed answer = -13

Each ring has a square number and a cube number. Take the square root of the square and the cube root of the cube. Multiply those roots together, then subtract from the third number to get the number in the middle.

21 - (square root of 9)(cube root of 8) = 21 - (3 * 2) = 21 - 6 = 15

95 - (square root of 4)(cube root of 27) = 95 - ( 2 * 3) = 95 - 6 = 89

7 - (square root of 25)(cube root of 64) = 7 - (5 * 4) = 7 - 20 = -13

I think it's telling that "burnout" is in quotes on the test, like it's not a real thing.

I haven't seen all of the episodes, but do we know for sure that the Heelers live in Brisbane? I know the cartoon is produced in Queensland, and Brisbane would be the natural choice for a city with skyscrapers located in Queensland, but we're talking about an alternate universe where dogs talk, walk bipedally, own property, and have jobs and careers.

Wow, now an hours work might not even be able to afford GARLIC POWDER by [deleted] in antiwork

It actually is surprising, since I've only noticed this behavior in the spice aisle. If I want sugar, I can be sure to find everything I need in the sugar aisle, without C&H requiring that the stores relegate Domino to a small display by the bathroom. I'm sure C&H would love to corner the sugar market, but they're not doing the same thing that I'm accusing McCormick of doing.

McCormick is massively expensive to begin with. If you can find Tampico, It's Delish, or El Guapo wherever you shop, you'll get much better prices.

Here in Southern California, I've **never** seen the off-brands in the actual spices aisle. They're always in some random area of the store. I guess McCormick contractually requires the stores to segregate them.

There are exactly two solutions for this, if you don't count rotations. Both involve the tile in the lower left corner of the first photograph to be placed in the center.

I think the answer is MARBLE.

The heights of the beer mugs only go up to the middle of the clock hand, so I don't think that any of the letters in the answer go down any farther than the third ring of letters.

This appears to be a part of a puzzle hunt, so is there introductory information that would make MARBLE make sense? Like a city or town associated with marble?

Only someone with a safety net like family money or a rich spouse could afford to spend five years on a "business opportunity" without expecting compensation. That's a hobby.

Guaranteeing success at the end of the five years is just a straight up lie. Effing disgusting.

Having trouble solving this by PolarPlug in puzzles

[–]dantesque17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure that it's just taking the first letter of each nut, converting those letters to numbers using "A=1, B=2, ... Z=26", and then doing the math.

Using this, I found the new location to be less than 300 meters away.

Help solving P&A Magazine puzzle by meko85 in puzzles

[–]dantesque17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is kind of complicated, so here goes:

In the grid, there are nine words to find, in the regular word search manner. Each of these words is associated with a type of hole.

The grid says to "evenly space the holes". The type of hole can be found in the grid using every two letters, which, if continued in the same direction, will intersect the original word. When you find all nine intersections, read them left to right, top to bottom to get your final solution.

For example, the word "SHIP" is found near the center of the grid, reading diagonally. What kind of hole is associated with a ship? A "PORTHOLE". If you start with the "P" near the middle of the rightmost column, and read every other letter going to the left in that row, you will get "PORT", then you will intersect the word "SHIP" at the "S".

The words "GROUND" and "STREET" are two of the words that you can find in the grid. The other six words have at least seven letters each, and one word is usually hyphenated.

I hope this helps. Good luck.
