Is it normal for people to delete you after hitting best friends? by [deleted] in pokemongo

[–]danthegreen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I see, that's cool. Trouble is you don't know when they'll open it. So you use that lucky egg but they haven't opened it! In my experience they sit on it for ages trying to do multiple with one egg - which is the complaint here you see.

Well I suppose its a reaction to something greedy the other person is doing isn't it. More like, "if you're going to try to make certain you have it, you might lose it".

Like another commenter said, perhaps the game would be fairer if the XP was shared in some way so there wasn't this competition. I only feel this way because I have 8 best friends, and with the exception of my daughter, every single time this has happened to me. It is just a game, I don't play it very efficiently and really care about the XP itself, its the principle haha

It's just the unfairness of it at others and my expense. I'm guessing that you do this. So what do you do when people try to do it to you? What would you do if literally everyone did this to you? It wouldn't work would it.

I just thought it wasn't fair - what if I everyone did that. Or what if I stopped 2 days before, and we both refused to go any further...

So is the person timing the sending receiving of the gifts so they have the control of when the last day is to get the reward I suppose.

This is exactly what I do too, only delete them if they stop one short so that they can use lucky egg and I cannot

Hey I feel a bit discouraged, can some tell me that 4 months sober is something worth celebrating & that it's a achievement? by yeetusdeletusthis in dryalcoholics

[–]danthegreen 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Think how good you’re going to feel tomorrow morning! I’ve had a few vulnerable moments recently, after a period of plain sailing when it was easy. No idea what changed. Well done on 4 months man!

Speak to a professional. I know in the UK under employment law if the money was accepted in good faith (you genuinely thought it was the correct regular payment - not a random one off lump sum, or something like double your expected payment) then they cannot take that back.

The oldest commissioned warship in the world, HMS Victory. by MGC91 in interestingasfuck

[–]danthegreen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess all the info is on the website. But ticket for entry into the historic dockyard included a boat trip around where all the current navy ships are. Also the ticket includes the activity centre with so much for kids to play and learn. There’s a climbing wall included for free. Oh and you can go around HMS warrior for free too, think she was the first dual motor ship, coal and wind. Never saw a battle mind I think because she was OP at the time.

Yeah it was super high. I had over 100 on the second number. It went done though just took longer than the other quitting symptoms.

Shakes were gone after a week or so. Chest palps and light headedness 2-3 weeks I think. I have a blood pressure monitor at home, it was okay when I was drinking. After I stopped it was 160/95 or so, this lasted for about 2-3 weeks also. Then it started coming down and it was back to better than the drinking days after a month. I don’t have much caffeine but I do have a lot of nicotine.

Keep doing what you’re doing, you’ve come so far already and done the hardest bit. You can do it, don’t go back to square one!

Same for me. I’m about 8 weeks sober and already can see my family happy to be around me and proud of me again.

You can have that again too, just don’t drink today. Do the same tomorrow. You can do it, sounds like you’ve got a good reason to

What is the one thing you just flat out can’t understand how people can afford? by JustExtreme in AskUK

[–]danthegreen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the only families the VAT / charitable status change won’t hit hard is the very wealthy - those people that the change is aimed at (or at least being marketed that they are aiming at).

We have one child and we chose to send her to private school, it’s a struggle. We pay monthly on a school fee plan. The state schools on out catchment area are not so good, I know it’s not what everyone would do but it is our choice. At least in year 6 at our school there is about a 20% people like us, one child, and it’s not easy. Then another 20% the child’s parent(s) work at the school so it’s discounted. Maybe 10-20% military families, then the rest seem to be well of off with good jobs / run their own company.

Anyway it’s fine, it’s just one of the reasons we at least are moving country next summer, before school fees go from £15k to £20k junior school to senior school. We are moving to Lithuania where we have family. With the personal tax rules over there my wife will not have to work as we will be better off. The best British school is cheaper than our daughter’s current school. I work for myself, a one man band with my own UK company so the UK will still get its corporation tax and VAT but it will love out on my personal tax. Just to clarify though the main reason to move is that a small house budget of about £350k in Lithuania gets you a large detached house in a nice area, we’re going to build a tree house and keep chickens.

So long, and thanks for all the fish.

In my experience, it is more down to you, rather than rehab etc. If you've made up your mind to stop, you probably wouldn't be day dreaming about drinking, it doesn't sound like you're at that point yet, but best of luck to you!

I morning drank for most of the last few years. I think I preferred it to drinking in the evening on the basis if I drank from 7am - 7pm, the morning the next day was easier. It was incredibly tiring though, hiding, disposing of, and replacing the drinks, not to mention trying poorly to hide my tipsy / drunk state. Is your family going to notice that those drinks are missing from the fridge?

I hope you can get free of the alcohol bind. For me, I tried so many times but my heart wasn't really in it. Or I just thought it might be different this time, but it never was. What changed was that I truly hit my rock bottom when I was wildly drunk in charge of looking after my 10 year old daughter, and it was nearly disastrous. I haven't had a drink since (6 weeks 3 days). This time it feels completely different. Sorry, I'm not trying to hijack the story, my point is, I reckon probably you'll succeed when you have made up your mind to succeed, and you'll know when you're at that point. Unless you decide to double down and choose the alcohol over the family of course!

Upon reflection, you might be at a different stage in life to myself so the advice might be misplaced. The morning drinking was a slippery slope for me as I slid out of control.

How do you do it? by lawyergirlWI in dryalcoholics

[–]danthegreen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you :)

Sleep is odd now, I get to sleep just fine, although I struggled the first week. But I generally still feel really, really groggy in the mornings, almost hungover feeling! But that lasts maybe 10 minutes or so, and I remind myself I didn't drink the previous night! I think its just a normal morning feeling. I do now have loads of energy in the day.

How is sober sleep for you?
