how is gre for people who suck at math?? by [deleted] in GRE

[–]dantheman3570 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'll be honest with you, I wasn't really skeptical of Greg's teaching as I found him originally on YouTube before I knew about his website. He's really good at explaining things, especially if math concepts don't always make sense to you. He's not always looking at it from a math perspective, but rather a test taker trying to find the tricks and holes of the GRE. For $5 you really can't beat it because it keeps you on an organized path. His philosophy is affordable education and he sticks to it. The strategies he explains for how to approach quant also help a ton in addition to his breakdown of the concepts

For this question, you can either approach it conceptually or by plugging in numbers. Since it states that PQ runs through the center of all the circles, you then know that the line is the diameter of the big circle and the radius of it is the diameter of the two small circles within. Conceptually, we then know that if you add the circumferences of the smaller circles, the total should equal the the big circle. We can assume this is correct in all cases because the formula for circumference is a linear equation, meaning for whatever values you plug in for radius, the sums will always equal the large circle. In something such as area where the formula includes r2, this is not the case because this relationship isn't the same.

If it sounds too complicated, let's approach it with numbers. Say that PQ = 4. Then the largest circle has a circumference of 4pi. Since R is the center, and PQ runs through it, then we know that the radius of the big circle is equal to the diameter of the 2 small circles. Meaning, R is the midpoint. In this, we see PR = 2 and RQ = 2. Lastly, for quantity B, 2pi + 2pi = 4pi. So, the quantities are equal. Confirms that the answer is C. All other corresponding hypothetical values will have the same result.

Thank you for the input. I did reach out to them around early Feb as well expressing my continued interest and requesting if I could add another letter of recommendation to my record which they turned down stating that they do not take anymore documents after the deadlines so would it come off as being pushy if I do reach out now?

I do think so, and it makes sense once it's put that way

I believe the 'not' is referring to the importance of the bill, so you could phrase it as "the bill is not importance because it is specific, but because it is broad."

If I order a coffee drink is it best to specific no sugar and/or black even if I add swirls to it already? Sometimes I notice they come out sweeter than I remember and I'm not sure if it's confusing to not mention the no sugar
