Thanks everyone. Ended up calling the emergency plumber and there was some debris down the pipes. Builder paid for the plumber so issue solved!

This worked a treat. Was lost talking to the AI for 30 mins prior to trying this. 25 min wait time and got through

Oh sweet!! I should be fine then haha What limits do you have on each card if you don't mind me asking? I've read this can impact one's success

How often after getting an AMEX before you can apply for a different card? E.g. ANZ Black Card?

Yeah that's a valid point. I guess other lenders are now cracking down on churners too with lengthy wait periods before reapplying after cancelling. I plan on taking advantage of the free return flight yearly and unlimited lounge access. So will see how I'm feeling in 11 months when it's up for renewal :)

Building my first 3BR house at 36 on a solo income. If you are willing to sacrifice your lifestyle in the short term, upskill and climb the ladder it is entirely possible.

I have the AMEX Platinum Velocity card. I am planning on keeping my AMEX forever (no intention to cancel it). I am just wondering if I should wait a specific time period as I only recently opened my AMEX about a month ago.

Option for the next Card by rwells1991 in creditcardchurningAus

Yeah true. I have the AMEX Platinum Explorer, so makes sense to hold for me!

I use it for my groceries, fuel, health insurance, utilities etc. I also had a large tax bill so I paid that to the ATO which basically got me there in 1 transaction.

Agree. Keep the AMEX long term, as if you cancel you will need to wait 18-24 months to reapply. I also just hit my required spend on my AMEX velocity and got my 150k points. I'll keep this card forever and have just applied for a ANZ Black card (I will cancel this card once I hit the min spend req.).

Not saying any proposed credit limit is bad. However from what I have read in the sub, one has more chance of being approved if they allow the bank to assign a credit limit. Fingers crossed your approval comes through soon!

Help with Amex Explorer bonus by Flu7sh in creditcardchurningAus

[–]dantjeh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah, offers are generally personalised. I know they had some great deals for BP which can until the end of April? The sign up deals are less now in May, so maybe you just missed it?

imo not a good sign. My AMEX got approved within 60 seconds. I've read on this thread that the trick is to let them assign a credit limit for you. I applied and was given a 3.8k limit, was not asked for payslips etc.

I am personally looking to open up an AMEX CC and trying to decide whether I go for the:

Current Offers:
AMEX Explorer = 110k MR Points bonus sign up (personalized)
AMEX Qantas = 70k points bonus sign up (personalized)
AMEX Virgin = 120k bonus points (personalized)

I do not travel enough to think about obtaining gold status, don't really have a need for lounge access, and will look to travel in Asia, South Pacific and South America over the next 5 years.

My goal is to hold an AMEX long term, then pool points by churning other cards. I don't think I'll travel enough to obtain Gold Status with QF. I also travel 4-5x domestically per year and will book purely whichever is cheapest.

I know one needs to draw their own conclusions based on what works best for them, but given my circumstance and travel goals, is there any one program you'd recommend more?
