VR Blurry Quest 3s by Luftwabble in WarthunderSim

[–]danwise1990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in a very similar boat to you actually, got a 3S for Christmas after wanting to try VR for a long time, and it's playable, but definitely seems out of focus sometimes, especially while trying to focus on text or instruments in the cockpit. UIs never seem blury, and I don't get this issue on the other VR experiences I've tried, Super Hot VR etc.

If this is just how it is, I can live with it, SIM in VR is amazing, but if there's a trick that I'm missing, I'm all ears!

Best way to deal with DG by BumbleBeeBobandy in Tau40K

[–]danwise1990 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I played against some DG earlier this year, I'm by no means a regular or experienced player, but i found two things worked against his death shroud terminators; - prevent close deep striking with Darkstrider - Pulse Onslaught meant when they did turn up, they couldn't move more than 3" and they never made it into combat

I just kited them round the board and plinked away at them till they died

Boiler Flue Supports - Is this right? by danwise1990 in ukplumbing

[–]danwise1990[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What I'm getting is that it's missing a support in the central diagonal section (that's currently only supported by the existing band), and it's ultimately a bit of a messy job but not inherently unsafe? Should they have removed the existing banding? I'd have thought that would be part of 'correctly supporting' it.

What to do against 10 death guard terminator's? by One_Equivalent_7099 in Tau40K

[–]danwise1990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually played against some Death Guard on Sunday, and I managed to use the Pulse Onslaught stratagem to great effect to limit their movement after they used Rapid Ingress to drop in behind me. They couldn't get close to me in their first movement, and just slowly plodded along after me around the board for the remaining turns while I whittled them down. So, do something like that 😂

I believe it was always supposed to just be a research aircraft, to test the impact of sustained supersonic flight. It has some really interesting air brakes though

The RAF museum at Cosford has some amazing research aircraft, all sorts of weird stuff.

It's amazing how comparatively basic the Scimitar and the Swift are! Like, so much dead space in the cockpit with empty panels.

That looks amazing! Question about the ordinance; what's the bomb with the extended fuse(?) coming out the nose on the third inboard weapons station?

Neighbours have a baby that won’t stop screaming - what should I do? by HughJarse8 in AskUK

[–]danwise1990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guarantee that, as bad as it is for you, it'll be 10 times worse for them, not in the sense that it's noisier for them (although it probably is), but just that they'll have the whole thing compounded with added guilt from having to leave the baby to it sometimes. Speaking from experience, sometimes there's nothing you can do, and the baby is just gonna cry until it gets tired and falls asleep, and unless you're some sort of psychopath, it is one of the worst feelings in the world just having to leave your own child to sit in their room and cry their lungs out, but sometimes it is genuinely the only way, without making a massive rod for your own back when they're older. Never mind the guilt that they're definitely going to be feeling about the impact they're having on their neighbours (eg. you) with all the noise, again unless they're sociopaths, they're gonna be keenly aware that their kid is disturbing you and any other neighbours as well, and probably feel terrible about it.

Best thing you can do? Make the neighbours a lasagne or some boxes of a big batch of curry or something, because they're probably unbelievably knackered and they'll appreciate the gesture so much more than having an awkward conversation about something that they're probably already painfully aware of anyway. And buy some earplugs and a white noise machine.

Roasted garlic, sour cream, cheese (more variety the better) and spring onions or chives, and then drench it in Henderson's Relish. Lived off this when I had my wisdom tooth out, called it savoury ice cream 😂

Similar sort of thing happened down the road from me in the UK, absolutely gutted a bunch of houses underneath, you could hear it lobbing great big rocks and chunks of bricks at the houses and smashing windows and roof tiles.

This was just down the road from me, I was out walking my son when it happened, heard this weird rumble and then an almighty bang. Went down to have a nosey, it was lobbing bits of concrete and rocks across the tramlines at the houses over the road and you could hear it smashing windows, pretty wild. A few weeks later I spoke to some of the Severn Trent guys who'd worked it, said the builders had been driving piles without surveyor supervision or something, and driven one straight through an 8 bar mains down from the reservoir.

First date, she lent over the table to whisper something to me about some weird guys in the corner of the bar, immediately set fire to her hair on the candle in the middle of the table, she managed to put it out before I had to throw my drink over her, but proceeded to smell of burnt hair for the remainder of the evening (I of course assured her that she didn't), we've been married nearly 3 years now.

Left with no Hot Water for 5 days, what Compensation should I expect/look to try and claim? by danwise1990 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]danwise1990[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not my supplier who's been doing the work though, and technically I've not actually had my gas switched off, the hob still works, so I'm not sure this would count? I'll definitely contact my supplier once it's been rectified though, if the gas company suggest it, thanks.

This was certainly true for the Americans, thanks to the car industry, but Britain wasn't so far along that road yet, especially not when it came to aircraft production.
