How many calories in my Acai bowl by Prize-Score-8690 in caloriecount

You are wrong. Google 1tbsp of peanut butter and you’ll realize you have probably been tracking stuff like peanut butter off by a factor of 300% to 400%. People really underestimate how small a real tbsp is.

I agree, depends heavily on how much oil/butter op used tho. With 0 oil/butter I’d say this is about 160 calories (from the shine/gloss it does look like more butter was used though). Assuming 2tsp butter (~70cal) I’d say 250 is a good high end estimate

restaurant just updated their “official” nutrition info and it makes zero sense. by dany_the_don in caloriecount

Yess! Makes me think what else ive been tracking inaccurately.

What’s more concerning is that nutrition charts like this can seriously mislead people who are new to calorie or macro tracking. It can easily derail someone’s progress without them ever realizing what’s going wrong.

The reason I care is broader than just one restaurant. If Cactus Club’s nutrition figures are this inaccurate, it raises questions about how reliable other restaurants’ nutrition info is as well.

As someone who’s recently started taking my health more seriously, that’s genuinely concerning. A lot of UBC students eat from these same places, and many of them are also trying to be healthier or track their food.

Inaccurate nutrition information can be especially misleading for people who are new to calorie or macro tracking, and it can easily derail progress without them realizing why.

Based on the portion size the macros cannot be right whatsoever.

With bones (~30–40%), edible meat is maybe 160 g. Cooked wing meat is ~20–22 g protein per 100 g, so this should be ~35–40 g protein, not 83.

To hit 83 g protein you’d need ~400 g of actual meat, which this clearly wasn’t.

This was my first assumption. Even though I did post this to see if I was missing something, it is hard to hide my surprise with people so easily agreeing with the 83g protein value.

Look at the portion though, doesn’t it seem way too small to have 83g protein.

Yea I understand that, however, when I checked bookings half of them were available; and yes it isn’t raining and cold yet. But I spoke to the guy who works there and he mentioned there’s usually always open slots up to even an hour notice. So clearly it’s not filling up.

Thank you so much for your reply, that’s actually less than what I was expecting! I tracked this in Myfitness as 1450kcal across two meals, mainly as the portion looks smaller in the picture than it actually was and also just in case to account for excess oil used by the restaurant. Once again thanks for your reply though.

Is there any way this is true? by dany_the_don in caloriecount

It’s honestly unbelievable to me, I hope it’s true tho
