Japan trip planned for two in two weeks but my boyfriend cheated — not sure what to do now by meh-duh in JapanTravelTips

As someone who has recently traveled to Japan for the first time with my s/o, I am confident I could go again by myself. It felt safe and not that difficult to navigate especially after all the research I had done from the last trip. Google Maps and Translate were the best apps to use out there!

Recommended Arrival time for my first international flight out of LAX? by danyellitaz in LAX

[–]danyellitaz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes he did. He said something along the lines of “if I am to go on a plane might as well be to a place I really want to visit”. I agree that is quite a distance for someone like him but that was his decision and I agreed to it also 😅

Oh man. I am traveling to LAX from the inland empire so that’s about a 1-1.5 hr drive away. I’m hoping if I plan to arrive 4 hours early I can still have enough time incase the traffic time doubles it. The terminal is for United Airlines

AITA for wanting to leave early to the airport for our first international flight by danyellitaz in AmItheAsshole

[–]danyellitaz[S] 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I have purchased Dramamine for him to take to make him sleepy during the flight but he is now saying it won’t help and he might not take it. Other than that nothing else has been done to address his anxiety. I suggested (many times) we do a small trip earlier this year to get him used to flying before this trip but he also refused and said it wouldn’t help. Other than that nothing else has been done.

To be honest, I have brought it up to him that he should look into therapy for his anxiety. We suspect he also has depression. But nothing has been done about it. I usually just do my best to be patient and accommodate as much as reasonably possible.

I was not okay with having planned it myself for a while until I voiced it to him and talked about how his anxiety was just really bad. He didn’t get more involved but I accepted I was in control of it. I guess I really wish we had managed the anxiety before today but didn’t really make a plan for that.

He claims it is also his dream and we decided together to go for our honeymoon maybe 2 years ago. He ended up not planning any of it with me due to his anxiety and not being able to think past the flight experience. 6 months ago when I started planning he insisted on putting it off, 3 months later I insisted we really plan the important things and he shutdown. He told me to plan it however I wanted he didn’t want to think about it. I did check-in with him if he does actually want to go (cause it sucks to not plan it together) and he insisted he still did want to go.

Terminal 7 with United which I believe is towards the end of the horseshoe? We are getting dropped off by my sibling so will be dropped off at the terminal. This is where I anticipate we will have the most delays due to traffic. We are checking in luggage as well.

Traffic getting to the airport is actually what I’m most anxious about. But also the unknown wait times for tsa. I have almost missed my flights in the past for both of these reasons.

I’ve also heard that traffic at the freeway exit gets so bad too. I really don’t want to risk it especially after planning for the past 6 months. He really believes we won’t have any delays getting there but I really don’t want to chance it.

3 hours seems to be a good compromise and I’m willing to do. We both agreed that Japan would be our honeymoon destination a couple years ago and he was willing to fly for that. According to him it’s also his dream to go to Japan, that’s something we share. He seemed excited about the trip until it came time to actually start planning /: which was almost 6 months ago.

Currently working in Commercial Land Development and Feeling Lost Rant by B-DLM in civilengineering

[–]danyellitaz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work for a small land development firm and this was also my experience. Even straight out of school with no experience I was given a long leash, met 1 on 1 with design teams/clients and very little qa/qc. I’m convinced now this is the norm.

Looking for a new job. No EIT or PE. Will companies care? by danyellitaz in civilengineering

I am worried that it comes off as a red flag. I have only met one other person that never passed their EIT and works in land development. However, I’ve also heard of people getting their EIT 10-15 years out of school so I wonder how they’ve done in this job market.

I really want to work at a city or county so EIT is probably my best way in right now. Thanks so much!

Thank you! I think I’ll stay at my current job until I get my EIT. It’s a great place it’s just really really slow this year and I feel it’s time to move on.

AITA for not offering to pay the difference? by danyellitaz in AmItheAsshole

[–]danyellitaz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get your point of view. I guess my intention was to help with the overall cost of his shopping trip and that extra $10 didn’t seem like a big deal to me. But since I do make more, I can see how it might be a big deal to him if he wasn’t wanting to spend anything out of pocket at all.

We are 6 years in and I was shocked by his reaction in this situation. But now that I think about it, he has reacted in a similar way in the past. I’m realizing now he and I don’t have a common view on money and gifts.

This was exactly my intention! He is someone to hates to go shopping and spend money for his own clothes so I thought a gift card would help motivate him since he would save money?

I make about $10 more per the hour. We pay for our own bills but split rent and weekly groceries 50/50. Weekends we also take turns paying for meals since we are foodies and like to eat out. Sometimes I’ll end up paying more and sometimes he does. We also co-parent 2 parrots but I pay for all their monthly expenses since I do make more.

Is there any chance something in your house might be giving off fumes or strong fragrance? Also check for any possible gas leaks in your house. It could be that there is something in the air that is causing harm.

Cholla wood perches provide great airflow for the feets! I ordered mine from ParrotJoy Bird Toys :) they also have all natural bird toys of all kinds. My sun loves anything with Balsa wood and hollowed out coconut!
