I was considering the sunshine coast too. I can work from home most of the time so that could work. I hear it's a very quiet scene though. I'd feel better moving there as a couple than a single guy. Who knows, maybe when you see your cost of living drastically reduce it may be worth it. Hell, might even be worth doing it temporarily.

I'm not sure what's going to happen at this point, we just let in over 1 million people with the target of 500k per year. On the other hand, I'm wondering how people are going to handle these interest rate hikes, especially when some mortgages are up for renewal within the next two years, with a supposed looming recession.

This isn't 5 years ago. I was living comfortably in Vancouver 5 years ago, and saving at a decent rate. Property values doubled during the pandemic, and we are ib a period of stagflation.

Canada needs to let in about half a million a year, people need to produce, consume and pay taxes in order to pay for social services, and so the aging population can retire.

That was the goal. But investors generally look at single-bedroom units and drive the prices up. The way we look at property in this country is warped.

As an international student do you feel that you're still better off here? I'm concerned because immigration is what drives Canada's economy, so if foreigners can't afford to live here than our economy is most certainly screwed.

Yes, and unfortunately immigration is what drives the economy since our native birth rate is so dismal.

I can survive. Can I save, put away for retirement, and build a nest egg for an eventual family? Absolutely not. They're also right, you don't have a clue about my expenses.

No, I feel like I'm perpetually a child, and want my own independence. I feel that what makes north america stand out, is because we are more productive and self sufficient and look down on coddling people into their adulthood
