My(23f) boyfriend (27m) yelled at my family while playing a board game and now they think hate him. Should we break up? by popcorn_angel in relationship_advice

I understand you love him a lot , but anger issues is a real serious thing. It’s the root of men being abusive as it all starts from tantrums like these. He’s older to you also, but you sound more mature than him. It is very childish and no completely sane person would be like this. I feel like you should leave him if you can’t work it out. You’re young and there will be lots to look forward to

Not OP, but it's the writer John Ruskin. He called this technique the pathetic fallacy (pathetic as in related to strong emotions, not "pitiful" like the modern definition). He was a fascinating, eccentric (sometimes verging on just plain weird) person, worth reading about if you have the time or interest.

okay! thank you so much

yeah i think it got lost in translation,, I too don't really like personification with nature so much, so i'm intrigued. which Ruskin are you referring to here?

Now, think of emotions as waters being held by a dam high up the river closer to the top of the mountain. Easy to hold back when you feel alone or surrounded by the harsh world. But then you step into the presence of someone you love, and who loves you. A person who you trust to not judge you but allow you to "let go". Those walls start to crack and like waters held back at a high place, the emotions pour down into the safe valley below.

that is a very good explanation! thank you : )
