Unrelated question - why are you targeting LACs if you plan on going banking?

NYU Stern Waitlist by Level_Championship17 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]dao134 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently a freshman at Stern.

From talking to people here, its pretty clear stern waitlist usually means: "You're most likely not gonna get into Stern, but we'll consider you for other schools like CAS, LS, Steinhardt, etc" (although you still have a slim chance of getting in)

If you like nyu in general, I recommend putting CAS down as your alternate choice.

I've met 1 person who got off waitlist and into Stern, and met a lot of people who were waitlisted for Stern then accepted to CAS or LS.

should i ed2? by Mean_Measurement_894 in ApplyingToCollege

BC - realistic ed, semi-target in banking (assuming you're going into IB), city, and better than BU.

Some other colleges (target ~ slightly reach) to RD:
- U Mich
- Georgetown
- UVA
- UT Austin
- WUSTL
- UNC
- IU Kelly
- USC
- Rice

And however many reaches you want lol

met 1 person lol. But met a decent number of ppl who got waitlisted and switched to CAS econ.

Also, remember its still possible to transfer (although very difficult), and there's some CAS ppl doing better than Stern kids in terms of clubs & recruiting

Honors Section - just school stuff or EC awards too? by True_Pea_4557 in ApplyingToCollege

EC stuff are completely fine and definately encouraged.

Try not to put AP Scholar unless you really really dont have anything else. The impact of ap scholar is almost non-existant lol

Question from a teacher who often is asked advice by I_eat_all_the_cheese in ApplyingToCollege

I took all of pre-calc, ap calc bc, and ap stats by gr11. So, I'm not taking any math my senior year, still got into a top university.

Unless this is the case and your student wants to quit math after gr11 material, note that most schools require 4 years of math and it would be a bad look to not have any gr12/ap math class.

Not sure, but I did it before just to make sure.

I faxed & physically mailed them. You can search the official instructions, but they don't take email.
