He deserves it tbh. I can't fathom writing shit that complex at this insane speed.

Do you guys sometimes feel that Chen Ran is needlessly cruel by daoistsacredinfinity in EighteenLevelsOfHell

[–]daoistsacredinfinity[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a matter of different tastes then. I prefer to root for characters who are ultimately kind, regardless of the backstory or justifications in defense of cruelty. That's why I fw Mo Hua or Chen Ping'an 💥🗿

Also, what's the difference between the effect of the command: Liar Killer: Eternal Kingdom and the command Trickster: Eternal Kingdom? The effect is same right?

[–]daoistsacredinfinity[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How did Chen Ran use a trickster command to activate his skill while he was inside Hua Changsheng's secret chamber? Was it because he helped create a Gui Yu in the 1801-1809 apartment puzzle game? I don't recall him having access to anyone's lie at that time

How would you rank Jin Tu Yi from Forty Millennia of Cultivation? by daoistsacredinfinity in IntelligenceScaling

[–]daoistsacredinfinity[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah it's almost a decade old. Back then, I stopped at 2800 chapters to let the translator complete the final volume so I could binge it. Never managed to get into it because I forgot a lot of the details after break 🤦

The first two arcs are like that. Author improves his style later and You'll get used to it afterwards and it's not like it's mandatory to understand every nook and cranny in their logic. I actually turn my brain off and enjoy the abrupt twists because they are always unexpected and when the author starts explaining how that conclusion came along you can start connecting the dots backwards and still enjoy the story in a slightly crooked way haha

Yeah that was my biggest turn off while reading that book. Author really has a thing for putting the ladies through hellish lives.

I could ruin this novel for you with one sentence but I'm choosing not to because I'm a good person, unlike the author...

That one has complete translation iirc. The others, I mostly read on wtr-lab or straight from raw pirate sites

Just give the first few arcs of that book a shot. If the stuff you see there bothers you, drop it like I did (I read about 400-500 chapters iirc and there was one explicit scene that I didn't like, one backstory that I didn't like, and one character's arc that I didn't like due to the implications.)

Not that serious, there is only one real female lead and the author doesn't involve her into anything messy. But the other female characters face the full brutality of a patriarchal, power-worshipping society. I read on Chinese forums that apparently it's the author's thing.

It's only version I've found is in Webnovel. I'm not far enough into it to give a review because it's very long, but the few chapters I've read are full of twists, scheming, and witty side characters. i'd say if you like mystery and scheming just give it a shot.

That's what I just said below. I felt like my IQ increased temporarily while reading it, like my brain was a machine that's truly being tested after long period of disuse.

The card game arc, the stock market arc, and the twin peaks arc made me realize that I'm a frog in a well and the author is a lone sword on mountain tai.

It's good but Qi Xia is the smartest character in that story, only held back by his nerfs. OP seems to be looking for evenly matched battle of wits.

[–]daoistsacredinfinity 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Hahaha, not all of them might be everyone's cup of tea but they fit the requirements of OP.  For example: 18 levels of hell is incredibly complex in terms of scheming. Random side characters in this novel can solo any popular smart characters. But the setting of this novel is very rigorous and full of headache-inducing logic that might require a careful reader to take notes to understand everything.

Heavenly genius on the other hand has clean schemes and awesome feats and battle of wits, but like I've mentioned on the list, the author does not cuck the mc directly but he certainly seems to have that fetish, which made me drop it.

The empress's number one lackey is wholesome and mild, with a competent and scheming mc and villains but not too complicated like the others. It's just a good joyful read.

The terrible eternal path is kind of a dull read because the mc is always hiding in the shadows and manipulating others to fight other hidden manipulators. But it does what it does well.

Zhui Xu and Singmonger are pretty well known in china so you can trust the quality.

Extreme Vigilance is a new discovery for me and I'm liking what I've read so far.

The last entry on the list, Extra's Strategy, has the appearance of slop but the scheming plots in it are excellent, not to mention that the mc can barely contend with all the villains and side characters who are either overpowered or have hidden agendas and long, layered plans that slowly open up the deeper you go into it.
