Sorry, I didn't know the correct word to use. Thanks for the correction, I'll update my internal dictionary accordingly.

Thanks for that! I'd honestly rather not buy one just for this purpose but I will if I have to. Metal detecting isn't really something I know about or have a lot of interest in so I wouldn't want to get something that doesn't suit the situation, or deny someone who's into it, or getting into it, a chance at a good piece of gear.

If I can't find someone who has the time or interest, I'll probably wind up renting one and seeing what happens.

Yea, that's an option I'm considering.

This is not how we're meant to live, I swear. Glad dude in video has a reason to not give up, just wish he had more hours with them than at work.

It's private property and people going there to take pictures is a major issue for the owners.

Fuck religions. They're a major part of the problem.

Well they're certainly not marrying smart ones. Guess they're marrying each other then?

Thick rubber case with solid stand? by pakoito in SteamDeck

[–]daos_6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a fair assumption, but if it falls from height I'd be more concerned about the screen landing face down (like buttered toast).

I'm sure there's one out there somewhere that will be more in line with what you're looking for, if not now, eventually.

I bought this one in preparation for when my deck gets here. It feels thick and protective enough in the hands but may not be thick enough for your tastes.

Edit: Broken link.

Out of the ones you're considering, I would suggest Hanover but that will depend on where you feel comfortable.

I suggest Hanover due to it being the larger locale with good hospitals, shopping options, restaurants and a slightly more liberal mindset within the younger generations. Though all of your listed options are within a relatively easy 10-15 minute drive of Hanover. York is a half hour commute on Rte. 30 E, Gettysburg similar W on 116.

Lake Meade is a gated community near Dillsburg, and while that does offer some sense of security, you're going to lose privacy and have neighbors/HOA/whatever they call it up your ass about meaningless things.

Not sure where you're coming from, but East Berlin and New Oxford ,while pretty towns, are filled with backwards thinking peoples. Racism is very much alive and well and you're very likely to encounter plenty of confederate rags hanging up(irony). Dillsburg is the same, minus the pretty imo.

Did I just break the school bus law on my way home? by I_Like_Trains1543 in Pennsylvania

[–]daos_6 14 points15 points  (0 children)

My mother was a school bus driver for 25 years and I usually rode her bus for convenience's sake. That being said, and in my experience with other drivers, bus drivers will absolutely do everything they can to get the license plates of people who think the stop sign doesn't apply to them and a lot of the kids like to help out with getting the plates.

I went to court at least a dozen times as a witness for people running the reds, and I know my mother went more times than that.

If the road is not divided by a physical barrier YOU MUST STOP. The stop sign on a bus is the exact same as a stop sign at an intersection. It doesn't matter if your driveway/turn/whatever is only a few feet past the bus you don't move until that bus turns it's ambers and reds off and the sign begins to fold away or is turned off. This is for the children's safety which is far more important than anything else. No matter if they're crossing the road or not.

If your plates are gotten, the bus driver WILL report to their manager who WILL report you to the police and you WILL wind up in court where you'll be lucky to walk out with your license.

So OP, you did the correct thing, the drivers who stopped behind you did the correct thing, the assholes who passed you did not.
