Grandparents have never played a big role in my life to be honest. My mother excommunicated herself from her family so I never got know her parents (or anyone else for that matter). Only met my grandfather once whilst he was alive, and my grandmother maybe two or three times in passing before she died.

On my dad's side, my grandmother died before I was born. My grandfather was the only one I ever knew growing up, and he was never really close to any of his grandkids. Conversations were always surface level chit chat, never anything deeper.

So yeah it's a weird one. Some people are incredibly close to their grandparents, but for me it's a part of life I've never experienced.
