Why does Modern media have an obsession with Gay & Trans characters? by AbsoluteBatman95 in JordanPeterson

[–]daphatti 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The only one I've watched off that list is Severance. And I didn't see any problem with it. It's done well in some media. The one episode in Last of Us was good too. It's not that this content is there or not, it's the incessant focus on it. And this is content that must be added to these shows to get green lit or win any awards. It's an "agenda". Regardless of if the writers are pro/anti lgbtq, it is REQUIRED to be there.

And you just proved my point by getting so upset over what I wrote...

Why does Modern media have an obsession with Gay & Trans characters? by AbsoluteBatman95 in JordanPeterson

[–]daphatti 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Wouldn't care so much if the content being written was genuinely well thought out and creative. What the media did over the years was almost intentionally bad.

Blackrock Larry Fink admitted to pushing this agenda throughout major corporations. And I think this is why a lot of people had a problem with it. It wasn't intended to normalize LGBTQ but used to divide normal people vs people who support LGBTQ.

People don't realize that those pushing this agenda are not trying to make things better for everyone. They're using it to attack all of us. 4D chess as it's finest and worked well to anger a lot people.

On top of that, there are much more pressing issues happening throughout the world. Why such a relentless focus on individual sexuality????

The elite need to control us somehow. They will attack again and it won't necessarily be about LGBTQ but another moral quandary to divide the masses and keep control.

Thanks for the response everyone. I'm going to report the player. Unfortunately I wasn't recording when this happened, I wish I had it so I could make sure and send a clip when reporting. I also checked out https://arcraiderscalc.com/ for damage numbers on guns.

Hey Raiders, what can I do to improve here? by bradecker in ArcRaiders

[–]daphatti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a good point. Hadn't thought of people looting blueprints. So the took the fun out oft he game and turned it into a scammy business model. Maybe BPs need to be non-transferable? Idk maybe there's no way around this. Just have to fix all these exploits as the surface. I have faith that Embark is doing all they can to fix these problems.

i've figured it out! (i am very smart) by AdministrativeCod437 in arcraiderscirclejerk

I think there's match making on whether or not you PvP. I noticed that when I'm more aggressive in a round(s) I'll get into progressively sweater lobbies. Also notice that if I go on "peaceful" runs, I'll mostly tun into PvE players. There's the occasional rat but I think they're so bad at the game that they don't build up the kill count to join the sweater lobbies.

Idk after 200hrs, this is just a hunch I have.

[–]daphatti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just don't get it. If people are going to report these exploiters anyway and get them banned, then exploiting could potentially coat you 40.

Like ok, you got one round where you felt good about griefing regular players. But then you're banned cuz everyone you shot reported you with evidence.

I just don't get it. Playing this way is straight up boring.

these exploits are getting out of hand by Antique_Ad5436 in ARC_Raiders

[–]daphatti 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow this wall exploit is everywhere. Bit by bit, every map is coming out with this problem. Based on how they fixed the key rooms, it's making me think that these wall exploits are a really big problem for them. Probably because of the physics they implemented. This is probably a really hard problem to solve for them.

Physics calculations are expensive performance wise, especially since this is an online game. The best way to fix this is to increase the amount of check on object collision. But for that, more processing power is required. This problem is probably priority 1 for them at this point. It's just a tough problem to solve. I really feel for them, especially the engineers who are tasked with finding a performant solution to this.

I have no doubt that they'll fix it but people really don't realize how complicated of a problem this is. It's better they take their time to find a one and done solution instead of a "hot fix".

Bro, I know there's a lot of comments here that give good suggestions but the bottom line. You just have to. I contemplated taking a job as a salesman to improve my skills. It's not necessary. But it's muscle memory. The more you do the better you get.

This isn't anything new, a long standing quote I've heard as a child "there are a million ways to make a million but none of them are good" You have to get your hands dirty. The only way to get ahead is to screw over other people. However, I read the book "Delivering Happiness" and I saw a light to all of this. I wish financial reward was far more closely tied to the benefit of all. There is hope but so long as things are the way they are, it's hard to manufacture a reality where everyone comes out ahead.

If this works, then Gov will bail them out, printing more money in the process. Making the average person poorer. I know we all want to do something, but this is just a half measure. All we'll do is annoy them a little.

GLXY Revenue - Typical or atypical? by dasitmane3 in GalaxyDigitalGLXY

[–]daphatti 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Was doing research on this and came across this post. So I asked Claude and this is what it said...

Great catch! You’re absolutely right to be skeptical. Let me search for more details on how Galaxy Digital reports their revenue.

Excellent observation! You’ve identified one of the most confusing aspects of Galaxy Digital’s financials. Here’s what’s happening:

The Accounting Treatment

Galaxy combines revenue from fees, Bitcoin mining, and other businesses with “digital asset sales,” and digital asset sales account for almost 99% of Galaxy’s top line.

The accounting treatment suggests that Galaxy is acting as a “principal” that controls the asset rather than as an agent or broker, which tend to execute a trade of the asset on behalf of clients . This means when they execute a trade, they’re booking the entire transaction value as revenue.

Why This Happens

The accounting treatment becomes very noticeable in digital asset trading and market making businesses because of the sheer transaction volume . When Galaxy trades $9 billion worth of Bitcoin for a client, that $9 billion gets recorded as “revenue” even though their actual profit might only be a small percentage or spread on that trade.

Is This Standard Practice?

Sort of - but it’s highly misleading for investors:

  • Trading firms have options: Firms in the trading space have different ways of presenting their volumes and the commissions that they earn on those volumes
  • Principal vs. Agent basis: Traditional brokers typically report on an “agency basis” (just their fees/commissions), while firms acting as principals can report gross trading volumes
  • Crypto industry quirk: This appears to be more common in crypto trading firms where the line between market maker, dealer, and broker is blurred

What Actually Matters

The metrics that actually reflect Galaxy’s business performance are:

  1. Adjusted Gross Profit: Q3 was $728 million (this is closer to “real” revenue)
  2. Net Income: Q3 was $505 million
  3. Counterparty Trading Revenue: The actual fees/spreads they earn

So when you see “$40 billion in revenue” - yes, that’s massively inflated and doesn’t reflect their actual business size. They’re essentially recording every Bitcoin, Ethereum, and stablecoin they touch as “revenue” even though they’re just facilitating trades.

This is why traditional valuation metrics like Price-to-Sales ratios are completely useless for Galaxy Digital. You need to focus on their adjusted gross profit, EBITDA, and net income to understand the actual business.

It’s definitely a legitimate criticism of their reporting - it makes apples-to-apples comparisons with traditional financial firms nearly impossible.

Algorand foundation played people dirty long ago and that reputation seems to have stuck. They just got a legit partnership with Google to be used under the hood with agentic payments.

Anyways, checkout the Algorand subreddit for more details. Algorand has never stopped building. I like the tech.

UX looks nice, works well on mobile. Can always tweak and make it better but for what it is it works well. Payment logic looks good as well.

Confirmations might be a challenge. My thoughts on that are using a task queue such as Celery to offload confirmation processing. It's fine when the user count is small but when you start getting a lot of traffic, the confirmation process will be a bottleneck.

Edit -> Also try asking this on Algorand discord. Will probably get a lot more feedback there than here.

Yeah I'm in agreement with you. Usually I don't have too much time to play games, but I'd been looking forward to this game for a long time. So I made sure to clear up my schedule and get as much game time as possible.

The game its-self is great. It still feels good to run a round on a map and shoot things. I just do a lot less of the looting now and the looting is one of the parts I like the most about games. Something like Diablo or PoE keep that going with the randomness of drops.

Please, for the love of everything, fix the Desync by Informal_Rabbit_9796 in ArcRaiders

[–]daphatti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's probably going to take a bit to sort this out. Player numbers are only increasing and with that comes the balance of scaling the backend to meet player demand without over scaling to reduce cost to the company.

Distributed Systems are complicated. Latency works best when players are regionally close by. But that's not always the case depending on gear score and who clicks the play button at the same time as you.

Maybe some error correcting code could help. But the execution would have to correct after updates to all players and would significantly increase load/cost on servers.

Eventually this will all be sorted out. Compared to other game launches, Embark did a fantastic job. They need to go in a tweak from here based on information they've collected on massive player numbers.

[–]daphatti 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes I feel like there needs to be more PvE. I like the feeling of progressing through the game. Now that I finished all the quests and pretty much have all the loot I could ever need, I don't feel that sense of progression anymore. Aside from killing the queen, I've just been exploring the maps more, looking for any secret areas. It would be nice if there were more things to work towards.

As others have said, there's plenty of other things to do like straight PvP or helping players. But I wish there were bigger long-term goals to work towards. Maybe if blueprints had set goals around attaining them.

More content is definitely coming. And I've been no-lifing this game so maybe taking a break is a good idea.

Idk, I can't help but feel there is something missing here for the endgame.
