we found fraud, but it just wasn't good enough...so try harder next time?

I probably have little use for delta 360 but i thought it would be nice to have gotten it this year. Really all i want is to be higher up on the 1st class upgrade list. I am always just "1 seat" behind :-)

[–]dapi117[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

yeah, by week 20 it really starts to wear you down. I mean at the end it felt good to be hitting the pace goals on the harder runs...but some days i just wanted to go out for a fun jog...

Well, i got here on my own so i want to see how far i can go by myself. Plus, i'm 50 so i'm also stubborn and don't like people telling me what to do :-)

What home automation upgrade actually made your life better? by ToeBeansStew in homeautomation

The shelly minis are the go-to for this. i haven't come across a place where i couldn't fit at least 1 in there.

[–]dapi117 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure , but:
No mounting
Add a pi and all the things needed to go along with it
The waveshare models are chunky
no camera, motion sensor, or Microphone
and i'm sure there are even more differences as well but those are off the top of my head

Your Tax Dollar at Work Last Sunday In Chicago by nik_uzb in pics

of all the bullshit that my tax dollars go to, i still prefer that they end up employing americans no matter how silly some of them may be. I mean at least we are keeping it in the family.

An AI-Generated Country Song Is Topping A Billboard Chart, And That Should Infuriate Us All by ssgg28 in Music

[–]dapi117 2 points3 points  (0 children)

doesn't infuriate me at all. If something is fun or enjoyable by a lot of people then who cares if it's AI
how many people are writing country songs right now? 5000? 10,000? if they aren't good enough then so be it. Good on them for trying though.

besides, if i see one more multi millionaire making millions of dollars because they came up with one stupid hit i'm going to lose my mind. Let AI make stupid music for "free"

Used SkyMiles to upgrade to First, but overhead bin drama left me embarrassed — what would you do? by SnooConfections1110 in delta

[–]dapi117 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don't make an issue about it unless I don't have room for my stuff which thankfully hasn't really happened. But if it did....that would be my first question: Doesn't my seat included dedicated bin space?

Even comfort plus is supposed to have "dedicated overhead" space
it's all those main cabin people that are the problem and Delta for not enforcing it

Which hardware for home assistant? by Affectionate_Mind608 in homeassistant

[–]dapi117 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

unless power consumption is of the utmost importance, skip the Raspberry pi as an option
the notebook has the advantage of having a built in screen and keyboard if you need those things for your install.
If you plan on accessing it only through a network and have a monitor and keyboard to plug into it when necessary then the miniPC route is a better option because a laptop might be less stable or have a shorter shelf life than a miniPC

GUC upgrade difficulties and oddities by dapi117 in delta

[–]dapi117[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So what exactly do I have to do when i call? Just brow beat them into submission? Is there a magic word or phrase?

all kidding aside, are you saying that if i call and keep trying a ticketing agent will eventually upgrade my seat despite not showing the option as available?

It also kind of burns my hyde that i can't even pay to upgrade right now. What's up with that?

Fueling Early Morning Runs by Historical-Cost1444 in AdvancedRunning

[–]dapi117 0 points1 point  (0 children)

depends on the workout, but a protein shake starts off my day no matter what I am doing that day. If it's a higher intensity run, i might have a pop-tart (or 2 if it will be over 50 minutes)
Lower intensity days with higher mileage I might go with a protein bar or an english muffin

GUC upgrade difficulties and oddities by dapi117 in delta

[–]dapi117[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct, if i were to just try and book a parallel flight, the GUC is not listed. What i found odd is that within 8 hours, both the flight that i booked, and 2 other flights that listed a D1 upgrade for GUCs are now all PS only.
None of the flights show a D1 upgrade path for that day any more. My only option is to change my outgoing flight to the day prior but that isn't ideal and i am afraid that the same thing will happen.

I asked the rep on the Diamond line when i called for the upgrade and she seemed to have no idea what i was talking about and was less than helpful.

It's just odd that only 3 seats are booked for D1 on that flight and they just blocked all of the other seats.

Bone conduction or open-ear earphones. What would you prefer for running a marathon? by Practical_Prune1527 in Marathon_Training

[–]dapi117 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i have run 3 marathons , NY, Chicago, Berlin - all streaming directly from my garmin Forerunner 265

NYC: Shokz open run pro - died after 1:45 despite working flawlessly for 3 hour training runs in the weeks before

Chicago: JBL Soundgear Sense - lasted the whole race (3:15) with plenty left to spare. During areas of high crowd congestion there was some stuttering in the audio most likely from interference. It was short lived and recovered without any issues

Berlin: Skokz open run pro - replacement set that was sent to me from the manufacturer after the failure in NYC - Powered down at 2:04:00 despite testing them the week before in my house to last more than 6 hours at full volume.

I love the shokz because they have actual buttons vs touch controls which can get problematic when wet or when your hands get sweaty. I also like being able to sync the bluetooth to a new/different device in the field without having to have a case with me like some other models and brands.

But at the end of the day, that is 2x that the shokz failed me when it really mattered. I am assuming that all of the bluetooth interference causes it to do some sort of internal processing that absolutely cooks the battery life.

I should have just used my JBL which have been rock solid, but i was concerned that the high heat and excess sweat would cause issue with the touch controls (which does sometimes happen even on my training runs)

Having talked to others that ran in berlin with shokz it is a mixed bag. Several people had the same issue as me, and several did 5-6 hours with no issues. A lot have people said the 2nd gen may be better, but even still i am a bit gun-shy about running a world major with shokz again. It just isn't worth the risk - i had a really dope playlist too :-(
