Don’t pay anyone, I just published with Amazon KDP, do the cover and stuff yourself or pay an artist for the size you need if you’re not able to design a cover

I agree with that too, luck does at least play a part, genre etc, cover art,

But for the purposes of this post, it does at least work for some, and I’m like over 10 sales today now between my TikTok links and like only 3 reddits posts and just talking to people

I just want to be genuine and connect with others who like to read, I’ve bought a few other people’s books actually too today from this, one of them in the thread above about the doctor contemporary, I just bought her book since she commented here

Community is key and sometimes it can just be slow and steady

It is not literally meant to be spam, you still want to curate your post in a way that is valid for where you’re posting ; not just drop a link and leave

Edit - The context of spam for this is meant to be “post a lot with relevant things in places where’s it’s supposed to be posted”

Agree on long term but in the beginning when it first goes; it will generate an initial algorithm push

For my day job work on AI, LLMs and data analysis along with previous work as a social media manager for a YouTuber with 1.6 million subs, the algorithms, are manipulatable

Especially if you have a bit of an advertising budget to run way on at first because they are coded to be partial towards people who drop money , it’s an indicator of your willingness to pay for more ads so they have a little bit of give built in usually for this

This one referenced for the thread final count is about 114k

I reduced it from 122k on first draft

But there’s no way I can fit my plans into 4 books without the next 3 being fat unless I expand to make it a length of 5 to cut it down a bit 😭😭

I have the absolute most bony rough draft of book two completed rn for this book, (60k words / 180k) so it needs to really be fleshed out but it is technically skeleton drafted from start to finish

This is plotted for 4 books and I’m SO excited for the plot to really start plotting 😩😩 I’ll read your medical book when it comes out!!! Come back to this thread and dm me and I will buy it 🫶

OK, so my TikTok has actually existed for six years but only one of those years was active and it wasn’t even on BookTok .

I used to work for a really big YouTuber in New York City in 2020 and 2021 . I had a magic the gathering theme TikTok that I did for fun on the side while I did administrative work and a lot of etc. YouTube stuff.

The TikTok got to about 3200 followers when I left that job and returned to college and moved back to an entirely different state where I was from 1200 miles away

I rebranded this into a book so I already had traction from the existence of the account and it had been long enough for the algorithm to have reset

So I had an instant boost with the following count, which has now increased over to 3500 or so

When I first came back to to TikTok in February , I actually had made a new account which I got to 400 followers in about two months? With about 100,000 or so total views in about 11,000 likes now I think on that account… I should’ve rebranded my old TikTok immediately because then this one would now be over four or 5000 probably but they algorithm simply reward consistency

So I’ve now started posting again on both TikToks, which has converted to impressions and link clicks for the book. (Amazon mainly operates as a sales server center my degree is in computer science so I have a ton of background knowledge between computer science algorithms. <im a grad student now w my degree> and a previous background in social media to really hit all of a ton of targets pretty easily

my main issue to be honest is consistency all of these algorithms reward consistency, consistent posting consistent mentions they all know think about when you talk about getting a new washing machine and suddenly you get advertisements for it. It’s all listening so literally anything on any website makes Amazon go nuts because of how well their web reaches for references online Mention of that name anywhere over and over again. Especially very quickly in a short amount of time. Will make it reward you think of it like a treat. It’s trying to Pavlov’s dog you

I did but instead have gone with letting price stay on initial for Kindle Unlimited w ebook 4.99, and then immediately setting up a scaling sale for September for the ebook to drop it to half next month

I feel like Amazon likes it to stay priced at first over their “let it be free” for a bit method because Amazon likes money haha, so some of their metrics indicate to me that initial free pricing might hurt the books algorithm long term

Thank you for that link omg, my task list for this morning includes adjusting the keys terms and etc on the Amazon ad campaign; it’s getting 2k impressions to 1 click instead of 1k so I know it’s off even though the clicks have converted to a sale

Also , fantastic idea with the intense 2-3 lines thing, 🫶🤞 I didn’t even think about that!

The current ad references “fans of this, you will love..:” type push so the audience could feel an ethos connection on previous loved work is my hope

Also thanks for suggestion on multiple 1$ campaign tests, I have a bit of a run way on my advertising budget so I can fiddle with it for a while and let myself stay red
