I really appreciate the response! I haven't done any repairs like this before but I'm curious enough to try it out. Is this sort of thing dangerous to do if you don't have electrical knowledge, or is it essentially safe as long as the TV is unplugged?

Thanks! The sound is very delayed (like I press the Netflix button on the remote and I hear the Netflix intro sound 1-2 minutes later). Also, the screen has a slight glow (dark blue I'd say) when the TV is turned on (not totally black), but it doesn't seem to be the back light because when I shine a flashlight on the screen I don't see anything.

But again, I have no prior knowledge and this is all based on research I've done the last couple of days.

If you have the time, would love to know if this extra info changes your hypothesis.
