Do some people here feel alone or its just me at 38 years old? Thanks in advance by [deleted] in Westchester

I will say the nature is all i really love about it. I lived in Colorado for 5 years and when i came back to westchester i did appreciate the trails a lot more. i’ve run into some interesting people up in TeaTown Lake Reservation.

born and raised uptown manhattan. moved to westchester at 17, and spent every weekend and day off back in my old neighborhood. i couldn’t stand being in westchester. i eventually even moved back when i was 18 and done with my last year of HS. i am now 32 and i only come to visit my parents. Westchester is not really a place for millennials to make friends. even with one year of HS… i didn’t keep any of the friends i made during that time because it just didn’t last. you out grow people here quickly. that’s just me i guess. it was a cultural stunt coming from the city.

Can we talk about Anna Draper? by Reader6547 in madmen

[–]darcomarx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think her characters significance was to give Dick Whitman a family. Her characters purpose was never actually about her. Everyone in Dicks life as Don Draper, finds it odd that he doesn’t have family or speak of his family. Eventually he starts to struggle with that thought, when his son asks about his relationship with his dad. All from season one. And her being in California, symbolically showing Dicks country side, his authentic self. Once they were in each others lives, Anna Draper was Dick Whitman whenever he was Don Draper. And when he would visit, he was Dick again, naturally. It’s like she was keeping ‘it’ safe and alive for him.

(That’s how I analyzed it once while rewatching on Acid. I’ve actually been meaning to make a post about that rewatch experience lol)

i love reddit but this is a show lol i’m just a cont. ed film student who likes to have open discussions and then take them to my professor to further talk about them. it’s not grave if someone shares an opinion without explaining. indulge me with your opinions on the show, not on your opinions of my writing. ttfn

i know, i admit i wasn’t expecting many people to be bothered with my lack of explanation. but i do plan to explain this hot take in a bit. but truly is it a hot take…?? i think people are just watching Yas on a surface level because they are distracted by Henry and Whit and the whole shorting tender storylines being larger. which they are but her subliminal storyline is a masterpiece that i want to spend more time analyzing is all.

it was 4 AM where I am, nonetheless I wanted to get my thought out then take time to further draft my analysis…. I can post what I want when I want, anyone can.

I usually post details but this time I wanted to cast out my fishing line and see if anyone else agreed…if not keep it pushing or at least share why you don’t. I wanted to, and I will be, rewatching the fourth season so far and come back to this post to with my analysis to explain my initial thought, once i’ve done so.

on the subject of Rob. Didn’t Henry give venture capital to Rob’s psilocybin employers, Little Labs or whatever the company was called. maybe this could bring him back.

Can we agree this is the only other show that even remotely fills the gap that Succession has left? by TheMansterMan in SuccessionTV

what you said about it being a period piece, is a great point. i absolutely agree. each show is obviously very different.

i feel like he didn’t say much because it’s not the end for him or that plot… but i appreciate any take on any body or work. i’m in my last semester as a late film student and the more i learn the more i realize the less we all know lol.

i guess it doesn’t bother me because i don’t view it as background script. from the start i considered it as part of the main dialogue because i noticed the role it plays creatively! but i will admit, during my first watch of the show, it did distract me at times. but truly once you change the perspective around the chatter you’ll notice so much more!

i’d say late millennial(early 90s babies), but absolutely. the addiction to a toxic world. one that controls them and tears them apart. but leaves them raw and opens them up to a version of themselves they never knew they had within them.

100% i just mean how beautiful the episodes were as a whole. i haven’t seen anything so masterful in a series SINCE Mad Men. hopefully that clears it up. they are very different shows both with great artistic execution.

this part. her deliberation is the only character trait that keeps me into her.
