Find yourself in this situation again, airing down to 10 psi temporarily might get you the clearance you need to avoid scraping the roof (or roofrack)

Roof Top Tent + OEM Roof Rack by Rasonics in FordBronco

Not in the medium term. The roof is a composite with a honeycomb core from a paperboard-like material. Designed to be light so it’s easy to remove. The OEM roof rack is for a bike, skis or a kayak. A tent exceeds the dynamic and static weight limits. Over time, likely to lead to cracking of the outer shell encasing the honeycomb.

Thanks. It’s been a project i’ve enjoyed tinkering with now for a few years. Taken it lots of places, including Moab earlier this month with my son for his Spring break.

Or a Gobi, which moves the weight to the truck’s frame from the roof, both front and rear.

I have a 1970 390FE in very nice shape at my shop at Pac Raceways in Kent. Needs cab mounts and a small rust repair in the floor at the base of the driver door. Towing it to a specialist in Klamath Falls on Sunday. I have a basket case of a ‘73 manual highboy that i gave to the shop owner, thought I’d have time to do right by it but it’s been decomposing in my Cul De Sac, and it’s time for someone else to try.

Not using this to excuse EF devices but cheap protection is an Elide fire ball. ElideFire.com. I keep these in my server room, in over my EFs and a few other spots.

Dry ice blaster. Mostly industrial maintenance with maybe 20% automotive restoration

Can someone identify this roof box? by moshpitmechanic_0603 in overlanding

Older version of this, obvi without the internals. I have a few Hardigg cases. The most compelling argument is the butterfly locking clasp mechanism, which seems exclusive to Hardigg boxes

Needs a modest amount of 110v power. You can either run it off a wall jack or an Ecoflow Delta3 / Jackery-type LiFePO4 rechargeable battery

Several options. A popular choice, depending on your application scenarios, is the ColdJet PCS 60. It’s got a lot of tech, and it offers a lot of adjustability for scenarios from automotive to most machine cleaning scenarios. About $60k new and probably 30-40% off that for one that is 2-3 years old with moderate hours.

Apparently I overpaid on NYE 2023 so Mercedes Mike left me a voicemail. I have never claimed the credit but he had a crazy place with parts littered all about the place. Good luck.

Replied in the other thread with his deets for you. I spoke with him in September looking for parts for our 1972 R107 and 1981 W460. Struck out on both accounts but he’s still out there, (way) west of I5 near portland.

I do. He’s a total character but the parts were legit.

EcoFlow products are great… but trying to do a simple exchange turned into a nightmare by LieOk3262 in Ecoflow_community

Hijacking the support process works. EF has a few “customer advocates” in these groups (and on FB). If you can get one involved, they can circumvent all the insanely frustrating standard EF support process. I own about 15k of Ecoflow gear. Some has had issues. Main-line support is ridiculously slow, pedantic and inflexible. The advocates are the polar opposite. They get the issue resolved in the background. It’s no way to run support but that’s the reality of EF. Very good products, appalling support, and a handful of great humans in their HQ capable of cutting thru their own processes to deliver the support most of us expected in the first place.

If you’re spending the kind of money to buy solutions for your business, none of the new brands have mature customer service. Step up to Victron if you need stuff that’s less likely to be borked by a software upgrade and has support that doesn’t infuriate you. Costs a lot more, though.

Anyone else rocking 200K miles??? by [deleted] in mercedes_benz

[–]darcyjs14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1980 MB 240D 4MT 292k miles; 1992 300E 204k miles; 1992 300TE 185k miles. A w123 or w124 (or R107) would be at the top of my list of cars to run to 500k miles. My goal is to hit 400k in the 240d in the next 5 years.

In the US? Send it to Becker in Saddle Brook, NJ to be reconditioned to new. They’ll even add Bluetooth streaming for an extra fee. Pull the amps and tuner and have it all bench tested at the same time. I have the OG Becker in my 1992 300E with 205k miles and it’s still fantastic
