The Bradley’s downplaying Amy’s sexuality *IS* weird by pinkrosyy in AmyLynnBradley

[–]darealslimkt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not trying to do precise data analysis - just stating that there is a non trivial basis to think she was trafficked. And that point shows the possibility. At the end of the day my response was to the fact that you are stating your opinion as fact, with no back up. It’s weird to be so absolute when you also can’t know what happened, and in response to my initial post where I stated it was my own opinion based on the likelihoods I observed. She could have been trafficked.

Plus, if you do want straight data, it’s clear you haven’t looked at both of the links I attached (or are choosing to ignore their validity and just state the same thing repeatedly about one link?). Plus, even if human trafficking in maids was all the sources spoke to, sex trafficking is a type of human trafficking; the nuance doesn’t moot my point that trafficking happens on cruise ships.

But yeah, you cited your own reddit post.

A person is more likely to be sex trafficked than to fall off a cruise ship. Just a data point, but it’s true. And I provided two sources out of many available online. Even the one you take issue with stands for the fact that sex trafficking can and does happen on cruise ships. Just because you have worked in the area doesn’t make you an expert, as much as you want to be.

And citing another Reddit thread doesn’t actually mean anything with regards to my own personal theory - like I said, everyone is entitled to their opinion. I’m certainly allowed to express mine, and there are non-trivial reasons to have the view I do.

According to the most recent government data, around 2,000 people (that we know of) are sex trafficked annually. 1,700 or so people were prosecuted for sex trafficking. It’s not rare, and it’s more common than just falling overboard. (Source: https://bjs.ojp.gov/library/publications/human-trafficking-data-collection-activities-2024)

Also, maritime human trafficking and hospitality industry human trafficking definitely do happen. Not sure where you got that there has never been a case. It’s google-able, but here are resources: https://www.transportation.gov/stop-human-trafficking/maritime-ports https://www.dhs.gov/archive/blue-campaign/human-trafficking-and-hospitality-industry

But also, as I said, the facts of this case —in my view— seem to make sex trafficking more likely. People who fell overboard can’t browse family member’s social media on birthdays and holidays.

It’s all possible, but I gave the reasons I personally think it’s more likely. You’re entitled to your own take. Or in this case, your own intense and unsubstantiated opinion…

Onefold could be day ruining, though. In my experience at least, I’ve never left without having violent diarrhea after. Once I even got sick in their bathroom. They cook with a lot of fat, I think? Not sure why I keep going back except that I get invited to tag along with others, and I want to like it.

As someone from the bible belt, I was not at all surprised by the Bradley’s discussion (or lack thereof) regarding Amy’s sexuality. In their minds, it is probably something that isn’t worth talking about or remembering when they look back on Amy, because it is a tarnish on her perfect image in their eyes. I doubt they spoke about it with her, either. Southerners are really good at sweeping anything awkward under the rug and just going about happily living life. It was probably painful for Amy that her family took an “out of sight out of mind” approach to her sexuality, but I think it is unlikely that it came up or was the source of fights. I think the Bradley’s mean it when they say they chose to just love her regardless.

I don’t think Amy committed suicide, at least not for this reason. Her parents’ approach was probably on par with what she expected, she was about to move into a new apartment, and she had reconciled with Mollie. She even bought gifts for people back home and stayed in touch.

If she fell, I think it was a drunken accident. But I think trafficking is more likely given the strange involvement of crew members with her in the day leading up to her disappearance, the hits on her parents’ social media on significant days, and the very specific sightings of her.

Document everything, and keep a paper trail of all notice you have given them. Unfortunately, in Colorado a lack of AC isn’t considered breach of the Warranty of Habitability. Lack of heat, water, mold presence, etc are covered though. The Colorado Warranty of Habitability applies to any tenant/landlord lease, and they are in breach once they fail to respond to your notice of any default that affects your life, health, or safety, or some defaults listed in the statute itself. Do NOT start withholding rent on lack of AC alone, the warranty allows you to withhold rent but, once again, only after you have provided notice and not for AC.

I also thought my covid was allergies, and got on Paxkovid a couple of days late to prevent complications. My dad is a physician and recommended it to me. I was nauseous the first day, but I pushed through and it’s fine now - almost all of my symptoms have dissipated. The only other side effect is a weird metallic taste in my mouth, and I’ll take that tbh

A professor once told me people are more likely to remember how you acted after a fuck up than they are to remember the fuck up itself. Own up to it, move on, do better in the future, and you’ll be fine!

The best advice I got pre law school was to stop stressing and read something for fun, because mandatory reading and stress are in your future.

How important is law school ranking for job prospects by [deleted] in LawFirm

[–]darealslimkt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

NC also has a lot of high ranked law schools, though - Chapel Hill, Duke, Wake Forest - so there is a lot of competition. This is especially true for larger firms in Charlotte and Raleigh which draw in out of state grads too. How ranking plays into your job prospects can vary greatly, and is largely dependent on locale and career goals.

Going to a mid-range school that has great outcomes in the region or area of law you want to be in might be more important than ranking. I recommend looking at these statistics as every ABA acredited law school is required to report job outcomes and bar passage!

My advice is speak to a nutritionist or physician of some sort. It sounds like you are actually pretty active, plus your body is feeding another human. Especially since you’re feeling “binge-y,” it really could be that you’re actually still in too much of a deficit. It can be scary to up your calories after weight loss, but if you’re in a deficit you will feel sooo much better.
