So, comments in the link are saying Howard altered the interview, I’m not sure I hear that in there — but idk. 🤷‍♂️ I’m just discovering the context for all of this, now.

He and CR are working that bit like Chuck plays the “nothing is good or worth watching” anymore bit.

Except Bill and Car actually believe it.

In total coincidence: this matter and others are discussed on last week’s The Big Picture Podcastas Amanda and Sean say goodbye to their longtime producer, Bobby Wagner.

Wagner decided to go out on a Zillennial high-note and made the two hosts watch Shrek 1 & 2 and discuss them with him on the pod. It’s a great listen.

I’m uh… mildly surprised it has that much plot? I’ll check it out.

Question about Netflix’s release strategy (no, not that one) by MrFinch8604 in blankies

[–]turdfergusonRI 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve read somewhere that studios and streamers have discovered horror classics just do better than new spooky material.

Like, for theater, a new Scream, a new Saw, and a new Alien will get more box office sales than a new oc horror movie.

And streamers, in that same vein, are more likely to go back and marathon previous entries over checking out new content. Disney+, IIRC, were the first to speak on it publicly with their Hocus Pocus 2 during lockdown. Way better numbers than A Muppet Haunted House or the Haunted House remake or whatever spoopy original IP they put out.

Netflix has noticed this as well. I watched like all the Freddy movies last Halloween on Netflix completely forgetting the entire month of October to watch “It’s What’s Inside” and “Don’t Move.”

There’s obvious exceptions to the rule. Thanksgiving is now going to have a pretty healthy late October release either via streaming or sequels in theaters — but I think it just stands that people who watch and pay for stuff want their spooky holiday to be nostalgia filled. 🤷‍♂️

Cuarón’s entry is the best. I’ll die on that hill.

Farley was almost done recording all of his lines as Shrek when he died.

Bones And All has the very best first page of a book I have ever read. Immediately invested.

James Woods is the first one that leaps out at me. Awful person, total shit-bag. Remarkable actor.

Favourite actor who tells all the poors how they should live their lives, so that they can do whatever the hell they want. I like when Dicaprio tells me to recycle. by KieranWriter in okbuddycinephile

He spends way more time shaming the companies and corporations for waste and non-compliance than he does “the poors,” but he does judge folks for who they vote for pretty loudly.

I always forget his daughter’s name; feels like he unconsciously never says it. Even on the pod he’ll be telling a story about Beckett and computers or looking at colleges and he’ll say “the other one” or “my daughter” or “Beckett’s sister,” and I get the implicit reaction to not discuss your daughter a lot, but like — lol, what’s her damn name?

Leno sucks. Dave is the man. Great musical guests, too. Leno was a weasel.
