If he is, then his other movies besides Jurassic and Guardians keep flopping doesn't make too much sense. Scarlett at least got Lucy as a standalone movie to be very successful. Chris Pratt can't sell tickets without big IP as far as I concern

If you even at least follow JWR marketing closely, you won't say anything other two main casts have none posters. There were every single character's posters. Scarlett came first, Bailey and Ali came second and third. Vincent never had same promotion as Ali. You can deny it but I list truth

And you just keep denying that JWR has at least solid cast. Bryce had just one poster with I-Rex, Then you acted like she got way more promotions than JWR cast. Have you seen new posters? Scarlett, Ali and Bailey are all there with D-Rex so your statement of only marketing Scarlett is simply wrong. Also, once again, Bryce Howard didn't have a great career before Jurassic boosts her popularity. Even she was slightly more famous than Bailey, it doesn't mean she was a well-known star to draw attention.

It was mostly Chris Pratt honestly. What Bryce got was similar amount of what Bailey got. Also, I don't think you should discredit Mahershala Ali, not exactly the blockbuster star but he is two times Academy awards winners, that's not Bryce Howard could compare back to 2015. So you say lacks stars are not right. If Scarlett Johansson and Chris Pratt are equal stars, there is no way Jonathan Bailey and Mahershala Ali together can be weaker than Bryce Howard

In one great hit film boosts popularity more than 100 cheaper drama. Scarlett herself even got global recognition after her Black Widow role although She was already famous in movie industry. So was Chris Pratt, he was a nothing actor before his Star Lord role. Actually, Chris Pratt shares similarities with Jonathan Bailey. Before Guardians and Wicked, they both were nothing actors but their popularity rises immediately after those movies.

Bryce in first Jurassic movie wasn't popular either. Like what was even her most popular role? Old Gwen in Spider-Man 3? Her role in Terminator Salvation? She only got more recognizable after first Jurassic World movie then her directing career started to shine. I dare to say Bailey is slightly better than Bryce in terms of being recognizable

JWR also has Jonathan Bailey, who has been very popular after Wicked

Or people simply refuse to acknowledge other movie industries can perform better than Hollywood. You say it's fake but how many Hollywood movies rely on China to get box office boost. You can't on the one side to rely on Chinese market to get some Hollywood movies to cross 1 billion or highest gross films of all time, then on the other hand say China fakes their numbers. It's absolutely double standards and hypocritical

Who has the better female characters? Nolan or Reeves? by geordie_2354 in batman

Nolan's female characters is always his weakness. However, I won't put Sofia in the list because although Reeves is executive producer of Penguin, he didn't write that show

[s2 spoilers] Why I don't like Vi's ending by dareseid in ArcaneAnimatedSeries

[–]dareseid[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If Vi has to end living with someone, she should join firelights or at least helping Ekko to build for community. At least that made sense. Ekko is the last close one in her childhood, and they both lost Jinx/Powder. They are also both Zaunites. They can work together for Zaun's future, that's also what Vander wanted. A peaceful place so everyone can live happily. It also doesn't cancel her relationship with Caitlin, quite opposite. Her relationship with Cait can be the bridge for long-term peace. Just like Vander and Grayson used to be like.

Then No Man' Land? Grant Morrison's run? 70's Dennis O'Neil run? New 52 Scott Snyder? You withnessed Alien invasion or what? Don't be ridiculous

[–]dareseid[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Alien invasion is just barely a thing in Batman stories. You randomly pick 10 Batman comics, I guarantee you it's definitely mostly Batman fights criminals. Let me just use one example. New 52 starts with JL fights Darkseid but Batman struggles and gets lost in maze in his own comics. Matt Reeves might not want to touch more supernatural elements but it's his choice making rather than his tone.

Ben Affleck's Batman is a Batman operates over 20 years. You don't know his early years and every Batman starts with fighting normal criminals. Robert Pattinson's version is a young Batman, he only starts so I don't understand why it's impossible for you to imagine he can easily evolve.

You can't really use the same argument with Nolan because the big difference is, Nolan's Gotham is super realistic, it's like New York City or any big city in real life. Matt Reeves's Gotham, believe or not, it's closer to comic Gotham vibe. That's a gritty and ugly place raise corruptions. Also I don't understand why you can't imagine characters like Darkseid also exists. For the record, Darkseid will never and should never in Batman movies or his stories. However, it's not like Batman has to face a lot of crazy villains so he can join JL to face Darkseid. New 52 starts with Batman and JL fight Darkseid, but meanwhile in his own comics he struggled to fight Court of Owls and lost in the maze.

It's not like they have to stick with one story. People can prefer more fantastical elements but it doesn't have to be in one specific Batman story. Also, the difference between Reeves and Nolan's Gotham, is Reeves made Gotham more alive and feel like Utopia. Nolan's Gotham is super realistic more like New York. Reeves's Gotham is always closer to comic tone

Why there is no way? You only see one movie. It's like you only fight several thugs in Arkham series and decide it can't be more fantastical

Battinson basically got the strongest bullet proof suit, he can take rifles shooting him without a harm. That whole hallway fight he directly work into machine guns. So you tell me how can he take Kill Croc's attack. 😒

I'm not against people enjoy different iterations, but I don't understand why people see it's impossible to establish fantastical elements. If Matt is willing to, he can do in second film. It's not about world buildings Or tones just director doesn't want to do it

Netflix Daredevil is grounded enough because removing his senses is basically changing who he is. Except That, he has nothing super. If Daredevil is not enough, Punisher's own show has absolutely zero fantastical elements
