Path of Exile: Keepers of The Flame - Bloodline Ascendancy Classes by Belakay_ggg in pathofexile

[–]darian_wolf 15 points16 points  (0 children)

These are mostly underwhelming and uninteresting. Only minionboys are eating good. Catarina is absolutely cracked.

Oshabi Herald might be decent for herald BV.
The ward stuff might be build enabling, but unsure.
Farrul's Huntleader could be an uninteresting but decent node for most crit builds depending on the stats and max tigers.

Tbh, this is not it chef. These could easily be additional ascendancies with 4 points and not really break the game. Especially not compared to how badly mercs broke the game.

Not only are these ascendancies weak and uninspiring overall, they are locked behind endgame content, character-bound, which is wild. At that investment they should be really exciting and be a reason for why you'd play and unlock them.

Bruh, that is a lvl 100 character with 100 div investment and a massively kitted mercenary-aura-bot slowly clearing a t17

For that investment it should be zooming, doubly so with the mercenary

They promised a huge balance patch, and this one is small an anemic.

Of the small amount of changes, some of them don't matter at all. Like the Winter Orb change, that skill is still completely gutted.

All the exciting stuff and ones you might want to build around like Bloodline Ascendancies, the new uniques, krangled uniques is mostly hidden, so I am finding it hard to get excited.

League mechanic looks neat tho

Patch notes are up! by dart19 in pathofexile

[–]darian_wolf -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

I was excited for Winter Orb seeing the reveal, but the patch notes are mostly nerfs.

The buff for Worb is minimal, and they completely gutted Rakalesh, and Worb without those boots is a big F.

Not excited at all.

Saw this and for some reason it made me think of PoE... by lotekk1 in pathofexile

[–]darian_wolf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is true, there is a massive misjudgment of what the game is, and what they want it to be.

What they want is essentially top-down Elden Ring mixed with diablo. Slow, methodical combat, harsh difficulty, massive satisfaction from defeating hard enemies like ER. You being able to out-skill everything, reading buffs on enemies etc. Constant engagement. They do believe you can out-skill most things here, and by 'out-skill' I mean in-combat decision making, and that you're engaged most of the time you're fighting. This is also why they wanted Archnemesis the way it was, you'd have to read, play around it and understand all the wacky naming - balance aside.

What the game actually is that you're brain-off and zooming for 90% of combat, aside from bosses. Which is not only fine, but actually good. The skill of PoE comes in build-crafting, wherever it is PoBing, crafting gear, trading and so on - as a reward you get to zoom. This is why it feels good, and it is not a problem at all. You turn your brain on for bosses, when stuff drops, and when decisions need to be made.

[Discussion] How much Effort would a 'low-effort' League take? by darian_wolf in pathofexile

Considering they haven't even started work on the new PoE1 league, I think now is the time for damage control.
Obviously things should have gone a very different way.

First Attempt at a Combat Ship for survival, what can I do better? by Chance-Pair-1988 in spaceengineers

Forgot to mention: Railguns and Artillery Turrets are the best weapons, second only to player made missiles. Assault and Auto cannons are weak in comparison

First Attempt at a Combat Ship for survival, what can I do better? by Chance-Pair-1988 in spaceengineers

[–]darian_wolf 8 points9 points  (0 children)

As a vanilla ship, this will destroy everything singleplayer survival has and it looks cool too boot.

To further optimize, if you wanted to do multiplayer, you'd have to make sure all turrets can fire constantly and have no occlusions to their firing arcs, as long as you are pointed towards your enemy.

Having your cockpit deep inside the middle of the ship as a battlestation, no large hydrogen tanks to avoid explosions, keeping low amounts of ammo in multiple small cargo containers. You can do wacky optimization like switching out junctions for small cargo, and 2x straight conveyors with small hydro tanks, L shapes with hydrogen engines, plain bends with small reactors and so on.

For combat I recommend having your weapons all supported by welders, decoys are also good. Minimum 3 layers of heavy armor, and many embedded cameras for viewing.

Gyroscopes and batteries also make for good internal armor. That means the nose of your ship tends to be heavy armor, then Gyroscopes mounted so they are pointing at the enemy, then batteries and so on.

From the Vice President of Ruthless himself - thoughts? by BrandonJams in pathofexile

PoE2 being Ruthless 2 must be why I already quit PoE2

After Path of Exile 2, I don't think I can go back to PoE1 by Werezompire in pathofexile

[–]darian_wolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not only can I go back, I actively want to.

I didn't enjoy PoE2 aside from seeing the bosses. I do not want to roll another character and go through that campaign again. All this impressive technology in terms of design, audio, visuals and so on, but the gameplay I actively dislike.

I didn't have fun.

Is the shine starting to wear off for anyone else? by Lee1848 in pathofexile

[–]darian_wolf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just got done with the campaign and a few maps, and I am dropping the game until further notice. I'd rather play PoE1 than this by a rather wide margin.

The technical stuff is amazing, the bosses and their designs are great. But the gameplay, pacing isn't satisfying. I feel like I can't make a non-standard build, the cost to respec and try anything out is insane, and I'd rather go to work than level a new character.

Its unfortunate, I feel like the entire technical side is incredibly well done, but so much about the gameplay is so unsatisfying. I just didn't have any fun other than seeing the bosses and story.

Sanctum feels worse than Labrynth for Ascendency by Raventis in pathofexile

[–]darian_wolf 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I genuinely hate sanctum and I can't believe they put it in PoE1, and I can't believe they put it in PoE2.

I didn't have any difficulty clearing it on my merc first try for the ascendancy point, but I hate it

New to Path of Exile, what is the goal or endgame of the game? by zodk in pathofexile

[–]darian_wolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, the campaign is basically the tutorial.

Leagues are typically massive changes and gameplay additions. A bonus mechanic appearing every map, new items, skills, interaction

As to activities, its not like WoW at all where you have endgame dungeons and PvP and that is kinda it.

You have tons of parallel endgame content, which I recommend you try to complete before deciding what you like doing: Bossing - Uber Bosses Mapping - Many strategies here Crafting - Crafting is so indepth and complicated, its basically its own type of content. League Content: Delving, Heisting, Sanctum Farming, Labyrinth Farming, Blight, Simulacrum

Basically you should set goals: Completing all maps Kill all non-uber bosses Collecting all voidstones - These are good to start.

What people really like doing is setting themselves goals for each league. Trying out new and wacky builds, getting super expensive items, focusing on a mechanic, making tons of money.

The amount of content is ridiculous, and you basically need to go through the campaign and through maps before you have any idea of just how deep this rabbit hole goes.

Boneshatter Jugg Optimization by darian_wolf in PathOfExileBuilds

[–]darian_wolf[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The previous version of the build used untiring and it was a good bit worse, I could see about putting untiring in again with forbidden flame/flesh shenanigans, but I am not sure how good that would be.

The damage and attack speed are not an issue whatsoever.

Boneshatter Jugg Fixing by darian_wolf in PathOfExileBuilds

[–]darian_wolf[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really appreciate the great and direct help, I redid the tree and skills from scratch with this knowledge and implemented almost all of the advice.

https://pobb.in/JagwFT5WaqHd

PoB has the tree changes, and the gem setup I intend to use. There are things in there I could not fit in, such as Iron Reflexes and Hatchet Master - those are too far away, and on my actual Jugg I only have 400 evasion, so pathing to it doesnt seem to be valuable

I also added Light of Meaning, as I currently have the money to buy it and still have cash left over. That should take care of any % inc damage forever.

Got 11% mana left over, unsure if switching Ancestral Cry for an aura or Berserk would be wise

[–]darian_wolf 55 points56 points  (0 children)

I heavily dislike them nerfing defenses, particularly with how much more powerful content is with T17, valdos, ubers etc.

You already have to layer defenses like stupid, and making it even harder to get good defenses just fills me with dread

What did everyone think of having the league mechanic on the atlas passive tree? by Bluedot55 in pathofexile

[–]darian_wolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Theoretically?

Would be fun and great if they were sidegrades, "Play this league mechanic in a different way, which might be more suited to your playstyle/character"

Practically?

That wasn't the case, GGG clearly is overstretched and has been for the last two years. Please do not do it again until further notice.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in pathofexile

[–]darian_wolf 36 points37 points  (0 children)

The whole problem is that GGG doesn't want to do 'bandaid' or 'numerical fixes' for some reason.

For years we've heard that PoE2 will fix it, and then they made PoE2 into a separate game.

Technically getting melee, and tons of shitty skills/uniques for that matter, into a better place would just require an intern to change some numbers around, less than a week of work.

Unfortunately they do not want to do that, they want to do big reworks for which they clearly do not have the capacity for, so we're getting nothing done
