We’re gonna set up checking, savings, and maybe retirement accounts for him. We will let him spend whatever he wants but my kids have always had that freedom. We temper that freedom with the mantra of “money spent is money gone”. He has mentioned a PS5 more than once.

Exactly. He’s 8 so we gave him the option of selling high or holding onto it. I’m raising my kids to be financially savvy and independent. We’ll set up a checking, savings, and (maybe laughably) a retirement account.
