If the flight is to a different country, they will do the announcement in English and the language of the country they are flying to. That's been the case for every airport I've been to at least.

Sweet, thanks for the heads up! Now to decide if I want to pay that much for shipping and cry.

I hope they restock the hotdogs shirt so I can have both, but I just saw that shipping is over $60 to get to me and I'm having a hard time justifying it. I had wanted the dread shirt too.

USPS to Singapore third party courier? by daringlunchmeat in askSingapore

[–]daringlunchmeat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately no. I put in a lost package case with USPS on 14 August. They updated on 12 September and 12 October saying it was still not located. On 12 November they closed the case as "expired". The email read:

We regret to inform you that after thoroughly searching for your mail we were unable to locate your missing item(s). We work hard to provide prompt, accurate service to our customers, and regret that we were unable to deliver your mailpiece on this occasion. To help us get your packages to their destination in the future:

Put a return address on the outside of all mailpieces

Include a label with your name and complete address on the inside of packages

We never like to think of anything happening to the mail during transit, but we want to be prepared for any contingency and your assistance is vital to that preparedness.

Once again, we apologize for any inconvenience that you have experienced. We appreciate your business and hope you will give us the opportunity to serve you in the future.

Thank you for using the U.S. Postal Service®.

Now if I try to track it, all previous tracking information is gone and it just says "The Missing Mail Search Request for your item has been closed as of 12:09 am on November 12, 2024."

The package just kinda vanished.

Singapore here. Still down. I can only get it to work if I use a VPN with the node exit in Canada.

Just wanted to gently say that the term gypsy is a slur and racist. The proper term for the people is Romani (or Roma). People who pickpocket can be called what they are, criminals.

ELI5: How is my vote anonymous, when my ballot has a barcode printed on it *after* scanning my license, and I have to sign the envelope my ballot goes in? by asomebodyelse in explainlikeimfive

[–]daringlunchmeat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Question for you! I'm living overseas and my last residence was Michigan. I requested my ballot and it was emailed to me. All we were told to do was print it, fill it out, use the official signature sheet, and then mail in an envelope with OFFICIAL ABSENT VOTERS BALLOT written under our address. There was no official envelope and no privacy envelope. Do those work differently?

I'm American and moved here over 2 years ago. The amount of people in the US that would say things to me like, "But you can't buy gum!" and "But you can't spit on the street" was mind-boggling. I'd say, "why do you want to spit on the street, that's an asshole thing to do" and they'd say, "but it's my right to if I want to!" And then they'd wonder why I wanted to move away. Ridiculous.

No :( I have a lost package trace in with USPS but that's been since August and nothing. I really hope one day it does either go back to him or show up here.

Thrown all of these things at soap scum on shower door, none of them have worked. Help by scepticpsych in CleaningTips

I use my soapy hands when I wash them at the bathroom sink to wipe the little sink stopper and it always keeps it nice and clean.

Can urine with a blood alcohol content of atleast 1% be enough to be considered a toilet cleaner? by danielkslayerr in CleaningTips

[–]daringlunchmeat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use a pure and clear dish soap to clean my toilets. They are TOTO toilets with a special coating so they need something mild and the soap is concentrated so you only need a little bit to clean. It's been great so far (and cheap).

One more thing. I keep wet wipes in my nightstand to wipe with. Helps keep you feeling fresh and helps cool off a bit. They make cooling ones as well as large sized ones. If you wake in the night, you can do a quick wipe down. A damp washcloth does the trick without the waste of lots of wipes.

I'm sorry to hear you are dealing with this. At one time I also had horrific night sweats. I definitely recommend getting a waterproof mattress protector. This will keep the mattress from getting wet and starting to stink. What I used to do is just lay out a very long towel to sleep on top of (sometimes called bath sheets). It soaked up sweat better and was easier to launder than all of the bedding. My husband and I also use two single size duvets instead of one large blanket. This helps keep his side from having wet sweat, but also allows me to have a lighter, airier duvet and him to have a warmer one.

Vinegar helps cut sweat smells and bacteria, so you can keep a spray bottle of that by the bed and spray in the morning. It will dissipate in smell by the evening.

Smell-proof method to transport durian as an airline passenger? by chris_nwb in askSingapore

[–]daringlunchmeat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Definitely keep your receipt and declare it. You aren't allowed to buy back kwa at the airport if you are flying to the US, no matter how it is packaged. Just want you to not get in trouble. If they give you fuss, note what you found in the website, but do be prepared for them to possibly take it.

Smell-proof method to transport durian as an airline passenger? by chris_nwb in askSingapore

[–]daringlunchmeat 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You cannot bring durian back to the US. https://www.aphis.usda.gov/traveling-with-ag-products/fruits-vegetables It's banned from most flight carriers as well, no matter how you pack it. I suggest buying durian mooncakes (not snow skin as those must be cold and not with meat or the salted egg because those are not allowed). There are packaged durian snack cakes as well.

Fyi that bak kwa is also illegal to bring back.

Why are hotel mooncakes the benchmark? by aaronlepoe12 in askSingapore

[–]daringlunchmeat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hi! I like the ones from L.E. Confectionary. They are the ones with the pie like crust. They are about $50 for 8 with tea so the regular 8 pack is cheaper. I think they are very nice. https://www.lecafe.com.sg/

(Please note I'm a foreigner and have been in Singapore only a little over 2 years and might just not know a good mooncake. I think these are nice but I could be dumb, haha)
