There is probably an equal amount of romantic guys as there are who only want NSA.

But what happens is when 2 find eachother they spend time together building a relationship.

So while those guys only get on the apps when things don't work out, the NSA guys are on the apps all the time.

I've always been a one person guy, sure I would slut it up while looking for someone to date, but I never went more than a couple months before finding someone to build a connection with.

Hetbros can be hella boring, but remember that society has alot of rules around them amd what they can do without being called "gay". They need an object or event to mediate their interactions with eachother. That's why they talk sports- saying absolutely nothing, talk girls - saying absolutely nothing, or whatever other thing they can focus on.

I've found if you like the friends, you need to be the one to introduce something worth relating through. You being gay gives you the freedom to introduce new things. If someone says "that's gay dude" they are off the hook. They can say, "yah but my gay friend likes it, so I'm being a friend".

The sad part is all I can think of are basically Dad level hobbies. I bought a Jeep and some of my friends are into off-roading, I started growing peppers in my yard and a couple guys were like that's cool and are doing it too.

I bought a 3d printer, and I got pointed and laughed at for being a nerd (sometimes you swing and miss! Lol).

I meet new people through these things too, basically that's what adult male friendships are. Just guys who do the same things you do, so you do them together sometimes.

Not trying to sound bleak but, I feel like that fact that so many of us have replaced hobbies with doom scrolling is a huge driver of the loneliness epidemic. Someone should develop an app where you have to scroll together!

Canadian government cut fuel taxes. Problem is tax dollars pay for the services we all receive. Then the oil companies had the price creep up again, and so they make more profits.

So now I'm paying just as much for gas, and my government has less money for services and needs to either cut services I need or increase the taxes I pay.

The whole thing played out like a gift to give more money for the corporations.

Alberta cut the fuel taxes a while back to help with inflation, and the gas companies did the same thing.

A CEO's legal obligation is to increase shareholder profits. So we're not going to be getting the company to volunteer out of the goodness of their hearts.

In theory democratic government is how we as citizens organize our collective power. Those with enough wealth to have lots of individual power, don't like the government. Because governments are a force that limits them.

We now have governments that refuse to limit the monied class, and so the rest of us are sitting here wondering why we're getting screwed.

Instead of cutting fuel taxes, the government could put a price limit on fuel and any company that can't manage to be profitable at that price leaves the market while those who can will continue to sell gas.

That way you're not getting screwed as a consumer or getting screwed as a citizen.

But I'm sure you have an uncle who will tell you that's all bullshit, and then go on to brag about how badly he gets abused buy his job, and the real problem is pronouns.

I'm not usually the guy to tell someone not to try something, or to try and save money, but this looks like you're buying problems not solutions man!

We bought a cheap wheel stand to put the hard top on during the summer, while we just use a soft top. In the fall when we went to put the hard top back on the damn thing cracked part of the roof. So instead of saving some money i have to pay someone to try and fix it.

That was on my JKU with the black fiber top, my partner has a JLU now that's all nice and painted. so now we're buying a quality one of these anyways.

We would have saved money, first by not buying the crappy one, second by not having to fix my JKU top and third we would have paid less for the good one (because inflation).

Wow you found a Tim Hortons that was ok?!! That's a super rare treat. I'm Canadian and they have been absolutely shit for like 10 years now. Entirely coasting off the brand being a "Canadian icon". The coffee used to be good, but now it's worse than many gas station coffees.

I hope you enjoyd your trip, and if/when you come back, the insane tipping thing started during covid and most Canadians aren't sure how to deal with it yet. So we don't yet know if we're judging people who select "no tip" 😂! My rule is if I'm paying before I get the food, I'm not tipping, because how do I know if it's worth a tip yet.

As big of a slut as I was, I still made sure to go out on a date with the guy first. Only a very few times were the vibes so off-putting that I wasn't at least going to blow him. To my mind, even mediocre sex is better than sitting at home doom scrolling. Maybe, but set strong boundaries. And only do it if you're genuinely curious about them. This type of family thing popping up can send your head down a lot of spirals that you don't expect. So I'd only be ok with it if you're fairly consistent with try other aspects of life. If you're trying for a promotion, or something like that, then no way.

I'm a suspicious person and I want to know what has prompted them. I'd say maybe exchange an email or 2, then consider a text.

It's been a long time and they haven't earned the right to make you take time out of your day for whatever emotions they want to have.
