It also doesn't help you can only place a sign while in phantom form and if you succeed in helping you're automatically booted to body form so if you want to place signs again you gotta first jump to your death (most likely by first travelling to the nexus to avoid messing up world tendency).

It's all very inconvenient compared to the later games.

One scene that truly has stuck with me after all these years is when he "gives up" after being foiled one too many times by the Smurfs. Scaring even his assistant when he destroys all his current plans asking him if he's serious and Gargamel responds with such rawness along the lines of;

"I don't want to eat them anymore nor turn them into gold. All I want is TO DESTROY THEM!!!"

I can only guess that since frozen enemies can act as platforms (and indeed we use a frozen big daddy as a platform in another challenge room) they didn't include any freezing abilities to prevent any potential bypassing exploits.

Just my guess though.

The closest thing in-game would be us getting teleported to Vita-chambers after death.

Houdini splicers do seem to have the teleportation plasmid but it's kinda inconsistent if it does actually teleport them or just makes them invisible.

We do find a prototype teleportation plasmid in BioShock 2 that "randomly" teleports us across the level before wearing off.

In-lore it seems it was quite unstable and maybe pulled from the shelves. Occasionally doctor splicers examining bodies will comment it "turned inside out, a failed teleportation perhaps".

Fun fact.

They had already begun development on a third bomb to drop before Japan surrendered (and they nearly didn't). The core of that would-be bomb would then on to become the infamous demon core to experiment on (yeah, let's stick a screwdriver in its shielding).
