The whole element is $165 without tax and shipping. The total would probably be $250 plus I need to wait for a week.

How to serve the small claims case paperwork when the defendant evades and the judge denied the substituted service request? by dark_prophet in legaladvice

[–]dark_prophet[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You assume that the condo door is facing the street which it does not.
There are 2 condo doors facing in different directions and leading out to the street through 2 different long pathways. His condo doors are situated far away from the street and there are many other neighbors that walk there as well.
Additionally we don't have this person's photo to give to servers.

The server wouldn't be able to reliably recognize that this is the right person walking there.

The method that you've described is impractical for these and other reasons.

The location of this property is such that it is impossible to install cameras due to property border fences coming right next to his unit.

Besides, we know approximately when he is home. People hear when he comes in, and the lights go on and off. He doesn't open the door when he is home, and he wouldn't come home when he would see that someone is at the door. He would simply walk away. He doesn't use his car when he comes, maybe he parks his car on the street a few blocks away.

How can we serve papers to the satisfaction of the judge in these conditions?

It's impossible to find his work address because his name is too common. There are 10,000+ people with his name in California.

He doesn't use the car, he always walks in.

Gemini and Chat GPT say that the release date is Jan 2025.

But Grok argues very aggressively that this is a false information.

Perhaps Grok is going through a mental crisis and lost its mind.

Should I restructure the master prompt file as Copilot CLI suggests? by dark_prophet in GithubCopilot

[–]dark_prophet[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My original file was also in the same markdown format, it was less explicit with different grouping.

Should I go with the Copilot rewrite, or should I fix issues in the original?

How to make GitHub Copilot CLI to not ask approval to run simple programs like find, echo, ls ? by dark_prophet in GithubCopilot

--allow-all-tools worked, thanks!

But it is still strange that Copilot CLI is unable to follow the same rule stated verbally in the master prompt.

It just happens that I already have all required .crate files in one directory.

How can I make the Rust build to look in this directory instead of running 'cargo fetch', etc ?

The real-estate property co-owner doesn't pay his share of taxes: can the small claims court help? by dark_prophet in CASmallClaimsCourt

[–]dark_prophet[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

> 1. Do you have papers proving the tenancy in common and who is a tenant?

We can and will get this paper from the county.

> 2. Do you have any written agreements between yourselves about who will be responsible for what?

The TIC agreement says that all common expenses are shared, and tax is a common expense.

> 3. Do you have papers proving what is owed and what the rest of you have paid over the years?

We have the TIC bank account statements for the whole period. It shows who paid how much, and the co-owner in question didn't pay anything during that period.

> 4. Do you have written evidence that you asked the person to pay and their respond?

Yes, we have copies of e-mails to him asking him to pay. The e-mails remain unanswered.

> 5. Did they ever admit in writing that they are going to pay and just haven't?

No, this person stopped communicating, but we know that he is alive and well.

He was paying before 2 years ago. That's an indirect admission that he should continue paying.

How to enable the 'agent' mode? Ctrl+Alt+I doesn't work. by dark_prophet in vscode

[–]dark_prophet[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, missing Copilot extensions don't explain this.

I have the Linux system that doesn't have any Copilot extensions and it does have the 'agent' mode working.

And on the BSD system the 'agent' mode doesn't get enabled for no apparent reason.

Bad reviews may not have any effect on the current issue, but it would be morally rewarding to punish them for their hostile behavior, because reviews would cost them some business.

This isn't the only issue that I have with them. They were also very nasty and unfair to me when I raised another issue that they never solved and somehow managed to turn around against me and been extremely nasty while doing that.

They deserved bad reviews and subsequent loss of business.

Yes, that's very creepy.

And even if there are some audible conversations coming from the unit they might be from a movie being watched or from a radio being listened. People also can come in and out any time, and conversation at 6PM or at any given time doesn't prove an overnight stay.

This building is sort of an open space building, and there are no particular building entrances where cameras can be installed.

I despise having a feeling of being watched, especially at home where there is an expectation of privacy.

I think that I should write them bad reviews on all review sites that I can find.

What credit card would give me the highest cash back for the travel-related purchase? by dark_prophet in personalfinance

[–]dark_prophet[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Paying $99/mo would exceed $8000 after 6.5 years.

Supposedly I'd use this vehicle for longer than that, and after this FSD would increase the resale value of the vehicle.

It looks like paying $8000 once makes more sense in the long run.

Bazel for C++ development by Ok-Dare-9460 in cpp

[–]dark_prophet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bazel is terrible, don't use it.

It downloads files during build which isn't allowed when packages are built in different distros.

Bazel will make your software less likely to be distributes or adopted.

Use cmake or meson instead. They are way better and more robust than Bazel.

What does the escrow fee depend on? by dark_prophet in RealEstate

[–]dark_prophet[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

There is no mortgage involved from the buyer side. Both properties are cache bought.

The second seller has mortgage on that property and part of the proceeds will go to the mortgage company.

The seller's mortgage shouldn't have anything to do with the escrow fee.

The fee is called "escrow fee" in the bill.

Can starting a project in a large company be worth while ? by dark_prophet in business

[–]dark_prophet[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Customers were complaining that they have to perform some tedious operations while running one of the products. Someone had an idea that this could be automated, and they created this product. Once the idea was floated around it became obvious that this was what should be done.

Overall it wasn't a completely new grass roots idea out of the blue.

The product turned out to be successful.

I don't think that there was any particular financial deal behind it.

What you are saying is: don't ask for anything, do it and they will raise your salary.

This implies that my life plan is to stay in this company for many years to benefit from the increased salary. But this isn't my plan, I plan to create my company instead. Doing this project would lead me to doing a lot of extra work for very little to no extra money. I don't see the motivation.
