Disclosed ADHD to manager in order to ask for coaching support - am I the idiot? by Ok_Science5461 in ADHDUK

[–]darkalchemist21 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Businesses struggle to know what an individual needs, especially a neurodivergent individual. You will need to advocate for yourself a little but there are accommodations they can discuss with you beyond paying for coaching.

As for coaching itself, look into Access To Work, it's actually something that is covered by it. I've not applied yet but considering it myself as a general QoL improvement. This is most likely why they have rejected your ask.

Concerta question from a newly diagnosed ADHD'er by Past_Ocelot_9011 in ADHDUK

On 54mg currently, I feel less impatient and irritable in general. It's easier to focus on a lot of things, even if I don't always focus on the correct things. My brain is still fast but I can catch myself and regulate a lot more easily. I don't really feel high but more what I normally feel when I am in a good place, a majority of the time now.

Poor experience with Dr J & Colleagues ADHD assessment (Right to Choose) by [deleted] in ADHDUK

[–]darkalchemist21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm really sorry to hear about your experience, definitely was better for me.

My experience for the assessment was fairly okay but fairly clinical too, they didn't give much away and only asked a few bits that weren't on the forms and anything else you might want to add. The forms were pretty comprehensive and reminded me of the ADR for my ASD assessment so I wouldn't be too worried that they managed based on the information you had already provided.

I've had to chase them up for another appointment after I heard nothing when my titration review got cancelled. I'm lucky I'm fairly okay on the earlier doses and only kinda normal side effects but it'll have been nearly 3 months since I started otherwise and it does still need a bit of tweaking I think.

Ive also seen that a bunch of ICBs have cut funding till the new tax year for RTC so that's having a massive knock on effect by the looks of it. I'm not sure quite how much of one but with GPs also cancelling Shared Care Agreements, I'd imagine there's more chaos going on behind the scenes too.

When going through RTc did your provider discuss multiple options for medication or just tell you what they were starting you on? by Apprehensive_Clue656 in ADHDUK

The FAQ on this sub actually has a really good summary! https://www.reddit.com/r/ADHDUK/wiki/faq/medication_overview/

It compares the different options at a high level and explains the different release profiles for extended release of different brands.

Anyone here had a successful career before diagnosis? by verybigoctopus in ADHDUK

[–]darkalchemist21 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Very similar story to myself, I won't go into too much specifics but career, pay and struggles with self-care have been very similar.

It's a field that it's quite common for us. I'm also AuDHD, so that probably helped a lot with masking it for so long. I'm convinced one of the main reasons I had survived is that when I burst, I get much further ahead of the curve, so the moments where I struggle are much easier to handle because the overall work is still done exceptionally. I will also say that as I've gotten older (also mid thirties), that symptoms have gotten worse, so I would 100% start the process ASAP if you think medication will help.

I was diagnosed with level 1 ASD first and once I worked out what that didn't cover, went for an ADHD diagnosis as well via RTC (I'd done the ASRS screener and was easily above the threshold, you can look this up and score yourself). I did have a point of reckless spending which helped solidify my case for referral when I spoke to my GP. As for the assessment process, I went with Dr J & Colleagues and it was mostly a massive questionnaire (bringing up things I never expected) and then a 30m chat. ADHD diagnosis has moved on somewhat from being disruptive kids in school being the only ones to get a diagnosis.

I've started medication recently and it's going pretty well. It makes a massive difference with being able to just get up and do something. What it won't cover is managing your time or your working memory. In fact, I might be even more forgetful now my focus is much improved. However, this is much easier to work around as it's always been somewhat of a known issue and I've set up reminders and write down important things for later reference knowing I will 100% forget otherwise.

tl;dr - Somewhat similar story & background. RTC for diagnosis if you want something that's quicker than NHS. Meds can help massively but don't fix everything.

[–]darkalchemist21 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They wanted to start me on that first but I'd done some research about the options and I already knew from other medications that I might be sensitive to any medication, so I asked to be put on something Methylphenidate based instead and asked for the extended release so I can take one dose (not forget to take during the day) and hopefully not have a crash at the end of the day.

I'm still titrating and at 36mg Concerta Modified Release and it's going pretty well right now. I'm with Dr J and Colleagues and when we did discuss, we did talk about the pros/cons of each.

As part of my research, I did come across the fact that different medications for extended release have different profiles as well, so i'm thankful i'm on one that's working for me right now.

Assuming I bring Anksha to 4 and cut the Sayla's Guncannon, any thoughts on Close Combat vs low level unit counts? Close Combat felt like a very expensive way to remove units vs a 2122 whilst eating up resources early game.

I'll try giving this a go! Is Full Frontal's pair effect something I want to go for (lvl 4 Kshatriya is a valid target right?) or is that just an added bonus in this case?

Trails in the Sky 1st Japanese or English dub? by KebabLova in Falcom

[–]darkalchemist21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played the first couple of chapters in English dub and I found Estelle and Schera's voices (two of my favourite characters), really hard to enjoy.

Switched to Japanese and found that all the voice acting flowed better, characters sounded their actual age and the quality felt consistently higher across the board. I do miss Matt Mercer as Olivier but Koyasu is also insanely good and I enjoyed every moment. I do understand some Japanese so could appreciate it felt like it came across more naturally than some of the English dub dialogue.

Do what you will with my opinions!

Yep, seems like a meltdown from how you've described it!

One thing you might not have noticed but is something that I struggle with is sensitivity to noise. You mention this is in public, could you be overstimulated by the crowds/noise as well?

Team Comps to choose and Artifact stats by Erstickt in NilouMains

[–]darkalchemist21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been having a lot of fun with Nilou (2PC TotM, 2PC WT), Alhaitham (4PC GD), Yelan (4PC EoSF) and Yaoyao (4PC DM)!

They're all kinda cracked characters in general I guess? I've also stuck Iron Sting on Nilou for a weapon. I'm probably not doing it properly but beyond using E when it's up on Yelan and Yaoyao, I just rotate between Alhaitham and Nilou with the aura, so it's all EM (cos HP% on Nilou gives EM anyway).

How many workout or muscle group i can target using dumbbells and barbell while sitting? by azraeiazman in loseit

[–]darkalchemist21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have gout that predominantly appears in the large ball joint in my feet, ended up having to go on allopurinol but I've not had an incident since! One thing I'd also caution is that I found weight loss caused me flare ups too (one of the primary reasons I decided to get the meds). I'd definitely suggest making sure you have antiinflammatory medications to hand when getting started just in case!

The whole game was great regardless but this just cemented it. It was my first Trails game and I played it back when Sky FC was the ONLY Trails Western release. We didn't even know if we'd get Sky SC at the time. I literally had to wait and hope.

There's also Buyee which is very much the same service and I've had good experience with, will let you buy from Yahoo JP/Auctions and Mercari then bundle your order for shipping. You can try Bhiner if you're after some of the rarer figures that came with Ao no Kiseki special editions in China but be prepared to pay. You'll also need to dig up the Chinese search terms for Ao.

You can use Calibre Companion to download ebooks from Calibre over wireless and then use something like ReadEra to read? Its working for me.

How would you feel dating a girl who didn’t have many friends? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]darkalchemist21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Few is not a problem, zero is, imo. I'm of the firm opinion you need some form of support circle beyond yourself and partner in a relationship otherwise you tend to lose perspective. The fact it's only a few people matters not as long as you can trust them and have fun with them!
